6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”
7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
11 For God does not show favoritism.

I just came across this passage last night and wanted to pass it on.

The indwelling Holy Spirit helps us to live godly in Jesus Christ. Once we are born again through faith in Christ, we have new desires. If we walk in the Spirit, those new desires become more evident in our lives.

Yup, this fact goes together with Galatians 6:6-10 (we'll reap eternal life as a harvest if we sow to the spirit/do good deeds), Ro 8:12,13 (if Christians live after the flesh, they'll die, but if by the Spirit they mortify the deeds of the flesh Christians will live), Ro 14:23 (if we walk in faith, we're justified, but if we do what we doubt, we're condemned), James 2 (Abraham was justified by works not by faith alone), etc, etc, etc.

It's not that there's no validity to the idea that we're justified and have peace through faith in Christ dying to remove our sins, but that there is a conspicuous incuriosity on the part of such people as wish for the matter to begin and end there when it comes to these "inconvenient" verses, and with integrating / reconciling them so that they can affirm them as well.

14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
John 3:14-21.

The same Gospel of John says doers of good will be raised to eternal life, but doers of evil will be raised to condemnation (5:29), so Jesus affirms Ro 2 in the way the OP seems to have construed it, as well as Ro 8:12,13, 14:23; Gal 6:6-10: Ja 2, etc, in the way I construe them--ie, believing in Him cannot be divested from doing deeds in Him, or else you're no longer believing in Him while you go on with your life of doing, thus your deeds become evil, and not good, bc you're not continuing in beholding Christ (Ro 1 "they did not want to retain God in their minds"), not "looking away to Christ the Author and finisher of our faith".

Only continuing in believing, also while you are working--since life goes on after the moment you believe passes--as James says, is continuing in faith, thus will result in good works and justification and being raised to life not condemnation.

A good explanation of our justification through Christ, what He did for us: We are now in Christ through our faith in Him. Because we are in Him, our lives will show sanctification.

IF being "in Christ" were an unchanging static reality, THEN no one would need to be told "remain in Him" (Jn 15; 1 Jn 2:28)--thus clearly not all branches do remain--and anyway this objection does nothing to address the fact that only DOERS OF GOOD will be raised to life, not merely someone who has believed, just as James 2 and Romans 2, and Galatians 6, etc, say.

1. This is actually a concession that the OP is correct--that only doers of good will be saved/justified and raised to eternal life.

2. We do not see your purport in Scripture. What we see is the Corinthians living in sin, and then Paul warning them that the unrighteous will not inherit God's Kingdom (1 Co 6); we see Gentile believers can be cut off if they do not remain in faith (this pertains not only to a belief in the mind, but also what is in the mind while the deed is being performed) (Ro 11:17-22), just as Paul warns only those who WALK in faith, live their lives in the Light before God with a clear conscience or "as unto the Lord" (Ro 14:5+), are justified (Ro 14:23), etc.

And some fall away and have to repent and be renewed again like the Galatians who were saved and then fell away

Galatians 4:19 ¶My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
20 I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

It is a concession that the OP is correct, but one distinction is it seems you want to say that the good things that lead to justification happen on their own, automatically, naturally, without a person making decisions, whereas others will want to argue that, no, we're accountable for our decisions as Christians, and our decisions will determine our justification and eternal life.
That's the difference.

There is, perhaps, a subtle difference, as well : "only doers of the Law will be justified" may be construed as inferring "God is not pleased with you unless and until you do good--you don't have peace until you do good, bc He's mad", whereas, perhaps, a person should say it infers "do good as a response to God having done good to you--in the same sense that a field yields a harvest of good because good has been sown into it--bc you're reconciled to God, bc you have received mercy bc Christ received no mercy, and He is pleased with you, receive that love and let your life reflect that you have been given that love".

He sure will . Now for a quick reminder
IS one who rejects JESUS the CHRIST who fails to BELEIVE ON HIM , REALLY DOING GOOD or REBELLION against
THE FATHER WHO SENT HIM .
Exactly . TIME to only double down with all reminders of the absolute DIRE NECESSITY to BELEIVE ON JESUS the CHRIST
and to be learning those bibles well .

Its a little tough to be claiming one is boasting in the LORD
when such a one would be rejecting CHRIST .
I mean would you not agree . HOW can i be boasting in the LORD
when i reject CHRIST and believe I can make it on my own with my good works .
ISNT that rather boasting in self . YES IT IS .
EVEN CORNELIOIUS who did much good , had to still hear the gospel and BELEIVE to be saved .
And take note WHEN HE heard it , HE SURE DIDNT REJECT IT .

I'm not bragging about my own "good works", boasting in the Lord means I'm giving Him credit for my works.

The verse I quoted is to inspire for everybody to be good. It's not boasting.

8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

Notice your 2 verses, as they complete the understanding in context.

So, if we read....(KJV).

>>""He (God) will GIVE= eternal life to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:""""""

See that verse Reader ????........ That verse if left to itself, is saying.....>"work hard for God, and you'll go to heaven......you'll receive eternal life"..

But we know that this is not true.......as no one can work their way to heaven........as that would be a sinner, unforgiven...

So, we have to read the next verse to get the context...........to understand How Eternal life, = is given by God

8.) """But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth"

Notice carefully........."and do not OBEY THE Truth"...

Now, THAT is explaining how to receive eternal life......and that is......to "" OBEY THE TRUTH"....

So, if we dont OBEY the Truth, then we dont receive eternal life from God........whereas ALL who OBEY the Truth......receive from God, Eternal life. = "Shall be saved".

Now, how do we OBEY....the Truth. ?..... Well, the TRUTH, is that JESUS has died for your sin, and "ALL who believe in Jesus have eternal life".

So, to OBEY the TRUTH.........is to BELIEVE In Jesus......its to put your FAITH in Christ......as that is how you = "" OBEY... the truth.""

If you dont "OBEY the Truth" then you have rejected it.......you do not BELIEVE IT......and you are a Christ Rejector vs a BELIEVER.

Oh you saw it as an attack . NO it was but a general reminder is all .
We should be reminding and provoking the believers to do good .
But we ought never once
use any scrip to imply , NOT SAYING YOU DID , in any way its okay IF ONE BELEIVED NOT ON CHRIST JESUS .
Because friend , THAT IS DEADLY to do such a thing .
You probably know that already . But its always good to remind one another .
SO here is a good reminder
I challenge us all to see what JESUS told those who failed to BELIEVE ON HIM .
THEN i challenge us to read acts and see Exactly WHO paul and peter and other PREACHED
and HOW they warned ANY who rejected . THEY never GAVE false hope
and always warned those who rejected . SO , how come this generation has found a so called other way
to evangelise that sure seems to negate the DIRE Need to BELEIVE ON HIM
and rather just seems to try and even find common ground WITH FALSE religoins .
PS , For more info on that , GO to and behold what these so called interfaith interreligious
dialagouers TOld the false religoins . IT SURE was not about BELIEVING ON JESUS THE CHRIST ,
rather THEY HAD NO NEED TOO, WE ALL SERVING the same GOD is that they said . WHAT AN ANTI CHRIST LIE .

What if you can see it like this:

those by patient continuance in well doing seeking immortality, will find Jesus, and be therefore no longer an unforgiven sinner?

RATHER lets do as the early church did .
KNOWING the TERROR OF GOD we persaude men .
TIME to open lips and preach JESUS to all that has breath .
Dont wait for the morrow , cause who knows if even the morrow cometh .
THis generatoin is in love with a non words go spell that wont correct and it wont even remind
them poor lost souls of the need TO BELEIVE ON JESUS asap .
SO i invite us all to once again read the book of acts . NOW do so and LETS SEE
WHO they preached and take note of what they said .
THEY sounded nothing like todays men . NOTHING . and that is A GOOD THING TOO .
cause most all of todays men
are actually being co helpers to silencing the one true gospel of CHRIST
as another one commony known as interfiath finding common ground has been brought in .
IN other words , THE CHURCHES are being DECIEVED . NO more planting doubts
LETS PLANT rather JESUS THE CHRIST , No other foundation can be laid .
;AND LETS Not give the people the idea that IN TIME one might come . cause WE SURE DONT KNOW how much TIME
is even left , let alone when ones time is up . URGENCY TIME . TIME for some URGENCY of JESUS TOBE PREACHED .
