What's At The Root of Terrorism ?Of all the cities in U.S. Detroit, Michigan flirts with being the most violent and crime ridden of them all and is tied with St Louis, Missouri for first place. According to the Uniform Crime Statistics Detroit has 569 crimes for every 100,000 people. If you were to figure percentage you would come up with one half percent of the population terrorizing the rest of the citizenry. These statistics are an average of the whole city. They do not take into account the fact that some areas of the city have less crime than others (of course some would have more). Now compare these statistics with a suburban city only several miles from Detroit--Bloomfield Hills (one of the most affluent cities in the country). There are only 5 crimes per hundred thousand in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. So, why the vast difference in crime? Some would tell you that it is because the disparity of income between the two cities. Some would blame it on drugs. Some would blame it on race. The REAL ProblemThe real problem is philosophical and has nothing to do with money, drugs, or race! It has to do with the belief systems of people. It has to do with how people see and rule themselves. There is an old adage that goes; "Feed a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for life." Teach a man to hate himself and you have a real problem as long as he sees himself as less desirable than others. The "self-hater," to coin a term, has something to prove! Scary. SELF-TerroristsWhat’s wrong with people that terrorize others? Simply this: These people are consummate self-haters. They first terrorize THEMSELVES with their belief systems then go on to treat others as they treat themselves! They have been taught all their life that they are not as good as other "more fortunate" people. Unfortunately, they believe it. Since they hate (have little respect for themselves) they are willing to do things and take risks that other less self-hating people would not find acceptable. When a person thinks he is a piece of garbage, he not only denigrates himself but trivializes the life of others. The self-hater hates himself so much that it easily spills out of him onto others. Does the self-hater realize this. No! He believes his overwhelming obsession with himself is love. He thinks the attention he pays to himself means he is loving and respecting himself. In reality he is perpetuating his own deception! True respect means you are comfortable enough with yourself to respect others as much as yourself. Hate is in the Mind of the BeholderThe philosophy of life the self-haters use allows them to believe that it’s OK to steal and take things from others. It is, after all, survival of the fittest. The self-hater blames damns and condemns others for the station of life he finds himself in. Since it is all the environment’s and someone else’s fault, he or she doesn't realize that true happiness depends on what we think about ourselves and others. Crooked thinking is where the true problem is. The self-hater has used his thinking to paint himself into a philosophical darkened and depressing corner in his mind. He seems unaware that He only has to use his creativity to paint windows in the gloomy room of his mind to brighten things up!. The same creativity that he used to make himself miserable can be used to let the sun shine in! These misguided people define their own inferiority through their own creativity. Sadly, they can and do believe their own rhetoric. ..................................................................................................... When reading the above article about the root causes of terrorism I could not help to be struck by the difference in the Christian Bible and the Koran.our God says he loves us wants us to love him to obey his laws for or own good. The Koran says you must obey me above all or you will not reap any rewards. Our God says love your enemies,The Koran says it o.k. kill your enemies. Isn't this the same thing we see in child abuse cases when you discipline without love. Could this be why so many of our terrorists in the world today are of the Muslim faith? Their god puts discipline above Love.
