[Psalm 44:22 KJV] "Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.".........This is the scripture Paul cited in Romans 8:36 below.
[Romans 8:35 KJV] "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"
[Romans 8:36 KJV] "As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."
[Romans 8:37 KJV] "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us."
[Romans 8:38 KJV] "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,"
[Romans 8:39 KJV] "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."...........It is interesting that here Paul quotes Psalm 44:22, but applies it to us contrary to how it was originally intended. Psalm 44:22 is saying Israel was accounted as sheep for the slaughter. They were being persecuted because they worshiped the true God......[Psalm 44:23 KJV] "Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast [us] not off for ever."
[Psalm 44:26 KJV] "Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.".......Israel was pleading to God to intervene on their behalf. Paul says that we, in the body of Christ, will not be separated in persecution. We will not be as sheep going to slaughter, but rather are more than conquerors who will never be separated from Christ.
