My mother has been on a Statin for a good while now and she also has Alzheimer's Dementia. She had been on the Statin for a couple years at least before she was ever diagnosed with Dementia.
One of the symptoms of Statin drugs is ... memory loss and confusion.
Without getting into the obvious debate here, can anybody tell me from any amount of experience what it might take to get her off the Statins for 6 mos to a year simply to see if it helps her condition at all? Any idea if it will make a difference?
I expect a fair amount of backlash from her doctors, as well as fear-mongering about how dangerous it would be to do so, but I'm determined to do it and feel God has put it on my heart to try.
She is far enough along in her Alz that any small amount of improvement would be very beneficial.
Thank you for any information you can provide and God Bless.
