Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Upon thy people (Jews) and upon thy holy city (Jerusalem) to finish the transgression (of the Jews)

Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
All of these things will be done prior to Jesus coming.

Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
After Jesus is crucified there will come a people to destroy the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (temple) and at the end of the war there was desolation.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
He that would stand in the holy place would be a part of the Roman army, and those that understand scripture should flee into the mountains before the city was destroyed.

Dan 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
The power of the holy people will be scattered (the power was Jerusalem and the temple) in times, times and an half (3 1/2 years) then all the prophecy would be finished. The Roman army surrounded Jerusalem in 66 AD, approximately 3 1/2 years prior to the completion of the destruction.

Dan 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Dan 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
Daniel was to go his way and at the end of time he would stand with his lot (stand with others of faith) in the resurrection.

When Jesus told his disciples that the temple would be destroyed, they knew from the scripture above that it would mean the end of the age.
Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (age)?

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Their generation would not pass away till all these things be fulfilled. If we believe Jesus, then we believe all these things happened prior to the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Many prophecy teachers want to imply that we will not know the day and hour when the temple and Jerusalem would be destroyed, but we know because it is history to us. But the disciples would not know because it was to happen in their future.

Scripture is clear, the end of the age (for the Jews under law) has happened and the age we live in (church) is forever.

Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

I don't know who you been listening to, but the Romans did NOT setup ANY abomination idol in the temple in 70 A.D. Instead, per Josephus' histories, the temple burned before the Romans could get possession of it.

Thus the "abomination of desolation" Jesus quoted from the Book of Daniel did NOT... take place in 70 A.D. The "holy place" where Jesus said look for that abomination (an idol) means inside the temple in Jerusalem.


The "abomination of desolation" per the Book of Daniel is about an idol setup for false worship. That's how an 'abomination' is defined in many Old Testament scriptures of God's Word.

Deut 7:25-26
25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

The meaning of 'desolation' within the phrase "abomination of desolation" is about making God's temple in Jerusalem SPIRITUALLY desolate, BECAUSE of the setting up of an abomination idol in false worship. It is NOT about the Romans causing desolation of Jerusalem by physical destructions.

When our Lord Jesus warned of the "abomination of desolation" from the Book of Daniel, specifically about it being IN the "holy place", that's means IN the temple, a STANDING temple in Jerusalem, and NOT a destroyed temple nor a physically destroyed Jerusalem.


This Scripture is about endtime events of a false one who will do this, in Jerusalem, in a temple built there:

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Those things the Romans NEVER did in 70 A.D. Jerusalem.

The Hebrew word for "pollute" in "they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength" is the same Hebrew word used for 'profane'. And the word for 'sanctuary' is the same Hebrew word used for the sanctuary Israel was told to build in worshipping our Heavenly Father.

Thus the "abomination of desolation" definitely is about polluting spiritually a temple in Jerusalem, a standing temple concerning the "holy place", and the placing of a IDOL abomination that makes it spiritually desolate.


Those are the SAME type of events Christ Jesus warned us of for the very END of this present world, given through His servant John...

That "image to the beast" IS... the future "abomination of desolation" that Jesus was pointing to for the very end of this world. It is the SAME kind of thing that happened to Daniel and his fellows while captive to Babylon when king Nebuchadnezzar was swayed by his own false prophets into creating a golden image of himself for ALL to bow in false worship to! Daniel and his fellows REFUSED to bow to that idol image of king Nebuchadnezzar and were thus DELIVERED UP to council to answer for it, the SAME kind of event Christ Jesus warned His servants about for the end, as per Matthew 10, Matthew 24, and Mark 13...

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake.

Scripture does not give a strong clue as to whom it might be that would stand in the temple, but it happened in or before 70 AD or it is not going to happen.

It's likely because you have yet to understand the full scope of the event per God's Word, and might be supposing the event is going to be just like previous events of past history. This one's going to be different, and it will conclude worshippers of all... religions on earth, not just those in Jerusalem.

Will there be atheists that will still refuse to bow? Yes, no doubt. So that category doesn't determine how the events will play out, God's Word does.
