The Basics of Christianity
What I believe in a few words...
God reveals Himself to us in the Bible. The Bible gives us a true picture of reality and shows us that we have been created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. The Bible is our final authority in all matters of truth and practice
The Bible teaches us:
God: The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is sovereign in creation, providence and redemption.
Ourselves: Because of the fall of mankind into sin we all come short of Gods standard. Human nature is to rebel against God. We are unable to rescue ourselves from this state and need God to intervene by giving us a new nature.
The Lord Jesus Christ: He is the second person of the Godhead. He was born of a virgin and lived a perfect life, completely pleasing to God His Father. His teachings are perfectly true and authoritative. He died on the cross as the atonement for sinners. He died in the place of those who deserve death. He rose bodily from the grave and ascended into Heaven where he now represents His People at the right hand of the Father. Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach, is 100% God and 100% man, human.
Salvation: The only way for sinners to be made right with God is by repenting of their sins and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ and His death for them on the cross. Baptism is the outward sign to show this inward change.
The Holy Spirit: Ruach Hako’desh is the third person of the Godhead. He inspired the writers of the Bible. His regenerating work is required to enable us to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. His sanctifying work is required to enable us to live to please God.
The Church: Is the body of Christians, the universal church of God. This is made up of those on earth who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and seek to live according to His teachings and those who are already in glory living forever to praise and glory God.
