[Acts 2:46 KJV] "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,"
[Acts 2:47 KJV] "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.".........Pentecost didn't form a new church, it added to the existing church which was the little flock Jerusalem church. This church worshiped in the temple. We don't find the body of Christ worshiping in the temple. The body of Christ met in houses.

I think this is the true essense of the church. That people met in homes in back streets breaking bread. Christ was crucified and had risen and people were believing. The disciples were sharing the last supper and this spread throughout Jerusalem and into the surrounding areas.

Little churches in houses. Though we also have archeological evidence of small churches purposely made and sometimes hidden underground. Small groups breaking bread.

It is from this that the church grew and then larger churches were needed. Still breaking the bread. But I think some of that intimacy and personal relationship was lost.
