I would like to discuss God's role in important decisions in life. What is the depth of his involvement, are there limits to how far he is willing to influence your decisions.
Suppose you reach a fork in the road of life and the paths in all directions seem equally good. Proverbs 16:9 appears to indicate that we would choose a direction by our own will, then regardless of the path chosen the Lord would guide our steps so that we wouldn't stumble. Then Proverbs 3:6 indicates we should submit to the Lord 's authority and he will influence the path to be better.
To make an analogy from my understanding; if you were a ship Jesus should ideally be the captain. Your job is to be navigator and plot as direct a course possible while avoiding known hazards. When a storm comes with Jesus as the captain you can trust him to get the ship through it or stop the storm all together. Sadly most people don't let Jesus be their captain, or they may allow him, but don't let him on the bridge of the ship.
However I see nothing to indicate that God will force you or even suggest that you deviate from a chosen path if it isn't wicked. I pray I'm wrong and that God is willing to help you make those decisions.
