Joshua 17:17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

We are those people. We are the great people He gave power to. What power?

Psalm 68:35 O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is He that giveth strength and power unto His people. Blessed be God.

Jeremiah 27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto Me.

Matthew 9:8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

10:1 And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Mark 3:14-15 And He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

We are His people. We are called by Him and as such we too are His disciples. We are among the twelve called to Him to “be with Him.” He lives in us and we in Him. He dwells in us and walks in us. He is our power.

11 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

The Biblical number twelve represents “a perfect number, signifying perfection of government, or of governmental perfection.” ~ Numbers in Scripture.

So the twelve disciples represent all of His disciples, all those He lives in, all of us that are His temple. As His disciples He gives us power and places us where we are needed with various gifts……

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Mark 16:17- 19 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

How many of us consider or put into use His power to heal through us, His called out ones?

I look forward to the day when God the Father sends forth His Son to return to fulfill His New Covenant with Israel, when all the faithfull saints of that nation that are living, and the roused ones, will be empowered to do these things again. It will be a sign of the Messiah's presence on earth, as they go forth from Jerusalem healing, casting out demons, and executing the judgments of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah Who has finally taken His rightful place on the throne, denied Him the first time around.

It will be glorious, triumphant, just, and magnificent as a government never seen before by men anywhere. All will repent and be baptized, all will seek out the holy saints of of God for their needs, for the next thousand years.

As we reign in the heavens with our Savior, we will witness and participate in this reconciliation of the earth, and give Him praise and worship, unhindered by the things of the flesh that so deny us the privilege now. Until that day, we must be content to lead devout lives in faithful obedience as ambassadors of the happy God Whose Son has made peace with all men through the blood of His Cross, not reckoning their offenses against them, and offering the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

You have woven together quite a tapestry of selected (by you) verses in order to sum up the fact that we (or some of us) should have the power of healing.

Fine , I will go along with that for a minute. How about you apply all those so called healing powers verses to yourself and then give the world a demonstration.

At that point you will have made your point. Otherwise it just amounts to some typing on a computer.

Best wishes in your endeavors. I wish you great success.

But Martin....the words aren't mine. Are we His servants? If the answer is yes, if we are His chosen, then He tells us that He gives some power to heal. My question is...do we claim the power that may or may not be given to us and actually allow Him to work through us?

It seems terribly presumptuous of someone to do that and yet...is it not turning one's back on a gift to not let His light shine? Is it not hiding "thy talent in the earth?" We know He heals body, mind and soul. We know He dwells in us and we know that if prayer alone was all that is required....He would not have instructed us to "lay hands on the sick."

Matthew 25:25-26 And I was afraid, and went and hid THY talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

25:29-30 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Martin,

My ex byfriend, the atheist, said," Well, why don't you heal your leg then?"
I said, " Yeah, why don't I? That was a good one...give me time."
Within a year and a half my hips, leg, knees got completely healed. (At an alter call for healing)
I enjoyed the challenge and he had a good point, I'm into -signs and wonders.
I have done many healings and prayers for others since then.
All anwered by the Holy Spirit Himself.

( Maybe my faith, believing and asking had something to do with it, too, probably did.) ;)

I agree. I find it ironic that so many churches who claim to have the fullest portion of the Holy Spirit seem to have the least evidence to show for it.

I have often wondered why genuine miracle healings are very rare today.

Another thing I observe is that many of the gifts promised to the 12 apostles are mis-applied to believers. Not all are Apostles.

Thanks

That is true but to me....the gifts are not promised only to the apostles or only to the prophets.

1 Corinthians 12:27-29 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
