I think most of us know this passage and recite it often:

Eph 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

I will probably talk about each piece of our spiritual armor in the coming months (not necessarily in order) for today I want to talk about our helmet.
The helmet protects our most vital aspect...our mind. (which is the gateway into our spirit) When we wear it we don't doubt our salvation. We don't doubt God's goodness. We are thankful in every trial.
We practice this:

2 Co 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh, For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every

We pull down our mental strongholds that keep us in bondage. We cast down imaginations that exalt themselves against God's goodness when we face hardship. We keep our mind stayed on Jesus:

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

We look to Jesus in every situation as we suffer.

Heb 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When we are overwhelmed by the evil and negativity all around us we do this:

Php 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things
.

If we practice these things then we are wearing the helmet of salvation.

Blessings

The Shield of Faith

The Lord Himself wears the helmet of salvation...but He keeps his mind on the Father...and us.

Isa 59:16-17
And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

Good topic but geez,
I struggle to understand the kjv.
Reading is not my strong point,
I'm more of a numbers person,
good at math

"Wherefore take unto you"
"having your loins girt about with truth"
"your feet shod"
"wherewith ye"

I wouldn't have a clue what any of that meant if I didn't already know it in a modern translation.
I would miss the whole point if I tried to read the bible in this old fashioned English.
Lucky there are modern translations

1 Samuel chapter 17 is the story of David and Goliath.
David doesn't want Saul's armor to go against Goliath because he hadn't tried it out yet.
So he takes off the breastplate and the helmet and leans on faith.

We get attacked all the time spiritually. And what we need to remind ourselves of, is, God has already supplied us with all we need.

Hugs

The helmet of salvation is the anointing of the Spirit in LIGHT....the armour of God is also called the armour of light. A holy walk in the kingdom realm of the Spirit clothes a person in light. Through His light we see light. This is a mystery in that very few have walked on that level of anointing. But Zion is a place of eternal light and glory. We are to walk there before Him to walk as He walked...in His light and life.

Light is sown for the righteous (Psalm 97:11). If a person walks contrary unto God then God will walk contrary unto them. That's why Corinthians says to pull down the strongholds in the mind and revenge all disobedience.

Here is another element to practice concerning the helmet of salvation. It protects the head:

1 Pe 1:13-16 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
