I fear some choose to obey the Bible rather than obey God and Jesus.

God and Jesus are quoted often in the Bible. I find it hard enough to obey their commandments, without adding additional commandments. The Pharisees added additional commandments - it proved to be unhelpful.

I would say this: Obeying God and Jesus is the beginning of the journey.

Bob, the bible is Gods word, Jesus is spoken of or intoned in every page. How else to know His precepts and desires for us? We NEED His living breathing word to know Him...to do that we must have His spirit living in us. He tells us to study scripture to show ourselves approved. I would be lost without the bible! Without it, things would be my own imagination.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God is not a book.

The commandment is to be perfect. To love God and neighbor. The examples of what is needed is in the sheep and goats (Matthew 25:31-46) as well as revelation and the new testament. There are many commandments to obey to be perfect. The point of the bible is to show people they are sinners and in need of repentance daily which is spelled out in the parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14). We have a merciful God who will work with us sinners.

Obeying the ten commandments is what the Pharisees were doing and they got it wrong because they didn't have brotherly love and take care of the less fortunate. Jesus spoke out against them for that in the new testament.

believers have been indoctrinated to believe that the Bible is Word—despite the several vv that say otherwise—and i think that the belief serves quite well, tbh; that Word might remain “hidden from the wise”
The Bible can't save us - only the Lord can do that. We develop a relationship with the Lord. He guides us through our daily lives.

I think the point of the Bible is to introduce us to the Lord. From there we develop a relationship with him. He guides us.
