The singular way Jesus gave us to remember his person until he returns is the communion supper, which was a solemn occasion expressive of servanthood and humiliation. Even when the disciples learned he was alive they were amazed and seemed shocked, but they didn't celebrate, though overjoyed, they rejoiced.

I'm saddened when I visit a church that still sings hymns but all the solemn hymns are presented celebratory. The hymns must be preserved and presented, but presented right. And the services altogether should be savory.
