Everyone says don't judge! Don't judge! We all have to judge, discern every single day. Some things are not nearly as important as others.

Images are neither good or evil. God just says "don't make them".

I am sorry. I thought the subject was God and whether or not the painter walks with Him. I'm in agreement with much of what you said about images of a man that many worship.

God will not put in an artist’s heart to make things that will elicit sinful responses in others (Mark 9:42).
He will not lead a person to create that which contradicts His nature.

Artisans who create idols may be skillful (Isaiah 40:19), but they’re using their skill to pervert God’s glory, not honor it.

This doesn’t mean that all art has to be like the Sistine Chapel, however, or that it can only depict biblical subjects like Jesus on the cross or the disciples in a boat.

God dwells in “the perfection of beauty” (Psalm 50:2), and His holiness is beautiful (1 Chronicles 16:29 andPsalm 29:2).

In creating God-glorifying art, the artist’s goal should be to lift the soul of man towards heaven and to illumine in new ways the multi-faceted beauty of God’s holiness, power and grace.

There are literally millions of ways artists can depict God's glory.

Their creativity and the skill that God has placed in their hearts and hands will guide them to create art that will help us transcend the ugliness and pollution of this world.

Artists, musicians, authors, and all who have this common mission are a special and valuable part of God’s kingdom.

Paul had a great conflict with Alexander the coppersmith and Demetrius the silversmith who were artists. Could we have convinced them that their talent was being used for an evil purpose? Their talent came from God as all good gifts do but they were using it to create icons of false gods.

This subject is not edifying anyone so let's all praise God, pray for one another and let the artists create whatever they want! I don't want to be right I want to be blessed. It's a far greater gain!

But God did.

But God did. In the image of GOD as man.

Hebrews 1:3

And He crushed the image, "the express image of his person": God as man. In doing so God cut down and smote all the little gods of man(idols). Which is how He now says "eat" little children


True or false? I may assert that it is a truth, but I know nothing. Show it is wrong. Did He or did He not smote the image: God as man? Which is why He now says "Children eat"; what God has cleansed, let no man say it is unclean.

We want to take people and drop them off in Leviticus on a verse that condemns them, forgetting our actions are also condemned in another verse in Leviticus.

i'm at a crossroads here myself; i certainly have no desire to be condemned (therefore by extension should not condemn), but at the same time the Leviticus argument seems shaky to me, bc even if "God did," well that is God's prerogative, right. And i guess obviously "an artist" making a likeness of something considered holy by others is not going to be interested in "For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; And reproofs for discipline are the way to life," so this sets up an apparent dichotomy, especially when go and tell is considered?

amen, we don't have to buy it, right?
if the artists want to create childhood cancer, that is their right, right?
who are we to point out the idol?
sure seems harsh in the moment, though
but we have to recognize that ppl find what they seek i guess

after all, who seeks reproof and correction?
the best way then becomes to get it from God, via cancer etc, i guess
we all have graven images that we have made, right, "artists" are not an exception

Amen to that brother!! It's one of those chicken and egg discussions...we know that no one will change their belief system...minds have been made up...and before our own Master we stand or fall. :)

....there are a few other subjects on this forum that are not edifying. Art is only a minor one.
