[Psalm 12:6 KJV] "The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times."
[Psalm 12:7 KJV] "Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

[Psalm 12:6 NIV] "And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times."
[Psalm 12:7 NIV] "You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked,"

The new Bibles change this verse to remove that God will preserve his Word. They made his Words about us.
I wonder why?

This shows the new Bibles didn't just remove words, they change scripture.

Let's look at the whole Psalm. For the sake of argument, we'll use the KJV:

12 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
What's this Psalm about? From verse 1 to verse 8, It's all about God's faithfulness to the godly, the poor, and the needy from the proud, the arrogant, the wicked, and the vile. That's the "them" who the Lord will preserve forever. The NIV better preserves the meaning of God's word here.

It's called, "Reading in context".

The Psalm is indeed about the needy but 6 and 7 are about his Word being pure and preserved and making it about the needy is unjustified
Good; we agree the Psalm is about the needy. Then we have to ask how verses 6 and 7 fit into the purpose of the Psalm. I want you to remember this; it's important.

In verse 5, God promises to arise and save the poor and needy. In verse 6, the psalmist confirms the trustworthiness and truth of God's promises. This is about God's faithfulness.

Who are the "them" referenced in verse 7 that God promises to preserve? It has to be the needy to fit the theme of the Psalm. The preservation of God's words does not fit with what the psalmist is trying to say. This isn't about what you've been told it's about.
