2 Corinthians 5
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God,
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Ephesians 4
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

If you are born again, you are In Christ, and He has made you a new creation, and you are now recreated according to the way God is, "after God", that is, patterned after Him, in Righteousness and true holiness.

If you are not in Christ, you are not born again (Romans 6 explains it).

In Christ, we are righteous and truly holy. What does that mean in our lives?

Much love!

Hi @marks we had this discussed before else where, where G:2537 is about freshness, and G:3501 is probably so with respect to age. Both are translated as "new" but the difference in their meaning is profound.

As a fallen man were are not righteous, but if we renew "G:0365" in the spirit of our mind we have refreshed/renewed our mind and the passage goes on to tell us that we must put on the refreshed/renewed mind we have learned as it is recreated in the righteous and true holiness and is in the likeness of God's mind. Renewing our mind without putting the renewed mind into practice in our lives is futile.

It will be know by others if we have put on the refurbished/renewed spirit of our mind by the fruit we produce as we live out our renewed/refreshed lives.

The debate in this thread will be how this comes about in Christ.

Shalom

Holy/sanctified set apart for a purpose .the Bible say holiness w/o no man shall see the Lord.. 3 steps in our sanctification 1. positional when we are saved /born again/ a new creation in christ. set apart placed into the body
2.progressive we are to grow in grace and knowledge.( some seldom make it to this stage ) in this stage we are a W. I.P work in progress through the Holy spirit we yield to the spirit . spiritual things bring spiritual fruit ..this is a continuing process.
3. Ultimate sanctification – glorification. . The final stage in the salvation process is the ultimate sanctification of the believer. we been changed in the twinkling of a eye ..we made it home...

in my words /thoughts What does that mean in our lives? it means doing our best through HIM walking the walk while talking the talk

If you are born again, you are In Christ, and He has made you a new creation, and you are now recreated according to the way God is, "after God", that is, patterned after Him, in Righteousness and true holiness.
Bingo in Him is the key abiding him we have fruit

Justification delivers from the penalty of sin

Sanctification delivers from the power of sin

Glorification delivers from the presence of sin

It means we better Live by the name we bear and the One who lives inside us..

Else we profane that Name, and Him!

Peace be with you!

Christ is risen!
Alleluia!
Let's see . . . Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold guiltless . . . something like that?

Vain . . . in an empty and meaningless way . . . O Christian?

Ecclesiastes speaks about the theme of vanity.

I Like this!

Of course . . . whom He called He justified, and whom He justified He glorified, all past tense, interestly!

Of course, in that "we have an body not made by hands, eternal in the heavens", is that not glorious?

Much love!

Yes.

"And therefore I hated my life, and all the works of my hands under the sun", something like that!

When we reach the end of all our labors and discover them all to be completely meaningless! Useless. Empty.

Same as all our labors now under the sun. We can work and work and work and spend our entire lives trying to buy God's approval with our works and behavior. Only to find out all that effort was completely in vain, and He only but fully accepts us in Christ.

Much love!

Good indeed to read Ecclesiastes in the light of 'Christ...made unto us wisdom' (1 Corinthians 1).

It appeals to the pride resident in the flesh.

The flesh wants to own a part of our salvation.

It's utter nonsense.
