1 Chronicles 16:

13 you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen [H972, G1588] ones, the children of Jacob.
The Jews are the chosen people; true Christians are the elect.

English Standard Version, Matthew 24:

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect [G1588] those days will be cut short.
The elect will be saved.

24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
NIV translated the Greek differently:

24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
False prophets may deceive some of the elect and lead them astray.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Even the deceived elect will be saved. Not every Jew of the chosen people will inherit eternal life, but every member of the elect will.

The OT's chosen people foreshadow the NT elect.

The concept can be simply summarized in both testaments as, "God's people".

The internal disagreements with the Remonstrants within the Reformed movement added some additional historical baggage to the term "elect", but it's the same biblical concept. What you see in the New Testament is a redefinition of the question "Who are God's people?" around Jesus. This is one of the "big-picture" questions Paul is addressing in Romans 9-11.

Pretty sure Christians are a "chosen generation" and "kings" and "priests", etc., as well as "elect".

Listen, it all comes down to this: every person from Adam to the last saint is saved by grace through faith alone not works.

Those on the other side of the Cross looked forward to it in faith and demonstrated that faith by obedience (Genesis 15:6 KJV) and we on this side of the Cross look back to it in faith, and also demonstrate our faith by the same obedience, according to 1 John 2:3-4 KJV.
