There is "no new thing under the sun." What has been will again be for "all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." [1 Cor. 10:11] The same is true of the parting of the Red Sea and subsequent partings of waters. They are our example of what will be:

First it is necessary to understand what "waters" are symbolic of. He tells us....

Revelation 17:15 And He saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Consider that the sea/waters are often symbolic of multitudes of people when reading the following verses.....

Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Moses is a type of our Savior. He tells us not to fear for He shall fight for us when we face our Pharoah....the antichrist. We are to "hold our peace" as Jesus held His....

Mark 15:3 And the chief priests accused Him of many things: but He answered nothing. And Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Answerest Thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against Thee." But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

Luke 21:12-14 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

The rod the Savior lifts are His elect over the sea of people and they shall be divided. They divide the righteous from the wicked. [Malachi 3:18] They are the rod of the Lord......

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.

Revelation 19:15 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God

14:19-20 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

Our protection, our armor, is Jesus and He is the Word. The truth of His word is darkness to those of Egypt, symbolic of the world and it's carnal lusts. It is foolishness to them and they are blind to His light but...not to us. Through that dark night, the time of Satan's tribulation, represented here as Pharaoh's pursuit to the Red Sea, they "came not near."

14:21-23 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

The horses, chariots and horsemen of Pharaoh are Satan's fallen angels, his scorpions and serpents, his locust army....his false prophets and antichrists, the tares. Those that want to spiritually kill God's children. They continue to chase us and will until the prophecy of the above [Ex. 14:14] is fulfilled...."for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever." Our Father destroyed the Pharoah and his army in the time of Moses but the ones they are a type for live on.

14:24-26 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

14:27- 30 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

The Lord saved Israel (believers are Israel) that day...the day of the Lord, the morning after the night of terror...Satan's hour of temptation, his great tribulation. The sea (multitudes, nations, people, tongues) are still there and remain there throughout the millennium for they will be taught by those that were saved. The wicked are gone (Pharaoh and his army....the two beasts of Revelation). [Rev.19:20] The prophecy is fulfilled and we will "see them again no more forever." But, their leader...the great red dragon is only locked away...he'll be back to deceive.

This story was again shown to have happened in the past and is predicted in our future....

Joshua 3:15-17 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho. And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

Revelation 16:11-13 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

The kings of the east...the elect, will also pass over on "dry ground." I wonder what "dry ground" is symbolic of?

    ..........................................................................................

"dry ground" === terra firma? Solid, firm standing in their beliefs? Unshakable confidence in the Lord?

(Is their a prize with this question?)

Yes indeed there is a prize. It is to feel the power of the Holy Spirit as He reveals understanding of the Word....awesome! So far, the meaning of that phrase hasn't been revealed to me. Your answers are certainly necessary but I feel it is more. As the sea and waters means masses of humanity, as the earth also represent mankind (for we are made of earth)....the "dry ground" is saying more. It is very specific..but I don't yet know.
