Having went to go buy a new bible, a New Living Translation which is an easier form to read of the Bible in my opinion, upon opening it and thumbing through it in the back of the book, there was a case of the Plagues of Egypt which, I never knew before.

God was showing his power over the gods that Egypt held in high regard.

Take a check of this:

The Plagues of Egypt

When God rescued his people from Egypt after many years of slavery there, he displayed his power over Egypt's gods through a series of plagues. Each plague can be seen as a direct challenge to a specific Egyptian deity.

Plague - Blood - Egyptian deity - Hapi - god of the Nile, bringer of fertility.
Plague - Frogs, Heqet - frog-headed goddess of fruitfulness
Plague - Gnats - god of the earth, from which the gnats came
Plague - Flies - Khepri - Bettle-headed god of of the morning sun.
Plague - Cattle - Hathor - cow-dead goddess of motherhood and childbirth.
Plague - Boils - Sekhmet - goddess of healing
Plague - Hail - Nut - goddess of the sky
Plague - Locusts - Shu - god of the wind
Plague - Darkness - Ra sun god, king of the gods, father of mankind
Plague - Firstborn - Bes - Protector of the households.

Did you take away from Ex 9:16 that God by humiliating the gods of Pharaoh and keeping him in existence to that point, wants His name known and spread throughout the earth Matt?

thank you for sharing your study with us!

those two make me think of not a curse but a blessing where life is in the blood and fertility. How Christs’ Life brings forth fruit. Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

and especially “the first born” protector of the household Colossians 1:17-18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
