You can't immerse yourself in the Holy Spirit. You either have it or you don't. God doesn't give it by measure.
John 3:34 You can absolutely immerse yourself in His Word, but that's not the trendy agenda party line that all the Naysayers Club are towing right now. It's all about diminishing the Bible from every one of you currently.

I had to unblock you just to read this post. Ever since I first arrived on this Forum you have been posting a whole lot of nonsense.

You have a great many fooled here with your avatar pic and your gigantic font type, but I only judge by what people post. If you post Truth, I'll support you no matter who you are. If you post hogwash on a regular basis, I have no time for it.

I post a significant post like #255 and you immediately bury it with a long post about nothing at all, not even directing it to anybody particular. Those who pay attention here won't be fooled by your nonsense.
Hmmm...! That bad, huh?
Help us all dear Lord!

However you define the Word of God, it is no substitute for having a relationship with him, which is done through prayer and obedience.
Can you post any scripture at all to support the things you are saying in this thread?

You're the only one here who continues to separate one's relationship to God's Word from one's relationship to/with God.

Can you post some scriptures to bolster your off-the-wall claims?

From what I've seen, you use zero scripture to make your points and you flat ignore any that is posted to refute you. You just keep making the same statements over and over.

[39] You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me;
[40] yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. John 5:39-40 RSV

You do a great robot impression, Bob.

Just gonna keep posting that same tired old set of verses even after being corrected about them multiple times by multiple people, huh? When all else fails, just keep repeating the same nonsense, right?

If you were a sincere Christian, with Truth as your goal and passion, you would continue to support your point with new and additional scripture. You would also respond to the scriptures being posted by others. It's a conversation/debate, is it not?

What of all these scriptures that you continue to flat ignore?

John 6 - Jesus' Spirit are in His Words - The Words of Eternal Life
John 15:3 - Jesus' Words cleanse us spiritually
Revelation 7:14 - White robes cleansed in the Blood of the Lamb (the Words of scripture per John 6)
2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is God-breathed

Why so defensive? I was not attacking and only meant to clarify my own belief.
I agree absolutely!

But who is qualified to do the matching between what a person hears and what is written? No man! Not you and not me without that in the matching we are led by the Holy Spirit!

The Bible only makes anything clear to a person who has "ears to hear" and "eyes to see"... and the person is paying attention and not quenching the Holy Spirit!

Why did the unnamed prophet out of Judah prophesy truly according to God at the first when he came to Jeroboam but then end up being killed by a lion on his way home? [I Kings 13] He failed to stay always in touch with God instead of later hearing, believing and following other voices!

The question people may now ask is, How does a person know the difference between the Lord's voice and the voice of a stranger?

I agree!

Don't look for disagreement where the difficulty sometimes is simply in communication. Then clarification may be all that is needed. I have a different definition for the Word of God than most people. Perhaps you did not understand that?

That is what I am saying... that we need both!
It didn't read to me like that.
I couldn't figure out what you were saying. You can call it defensive, but I thought that you had dissected and misread my thoughts, which i thought were made plain, and it bothered me that it appeared you misconstrued my beliefs, which I have every right to defend.
If you have a different explanation than most people do of the word of God, please spell that out.

I agree 1000%GEN2REV. Perhaps it is easier to ignore what the Bible says if it may interfere with what one wants to believe.

The Bible defines truth this way:

Thy Law is truth. Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Jesus is truth
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Thy Word is truth John17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Yes, the age-old problem with the Bible that all enemies of Truth have with it. It is the biggest threat to those who love and embrace a lie.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
Get rid of it. Diminish it. Make light of it. Downplay its significance, discredit its power and importance in the life of a Christian. Same old tricks, different day.

Absolutely.

The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified seven times.
Psalms 12:6

It's not a book about God, it's a book by Him and of Him. How does any sincere Christian tell others to have less to do with that?

Those are words straight from darkness; have no doubt.

Who is not praying as well as reading the Bible? No dispute that prayer is important. And you should always pray before opening the word as well. Did you quit reading it?

And I find it funny that you use the Bible to try to validate not using the Bible.

Yeah, good luck finding any verse that actually supports that.

That's why he's hung up on that same 2 verses that don't support his sentiment at all.

Those verses are Jesus admonishing hypocrites for their dishonest ways. Ironic that he's using those very verses to try to drive his point.

Shhh! it's a trick question! To refute this scripture, you have to show with the fruit of your life that you KNOW Jesus. ;)

This night
We pray

They been trained for a programmed response and even the response cannot justify their belief.
MY ADVICE , YOU STAY DUG IN THAT BIBLE . I WILL TOO .

That is why we are to examine the fruits . TO see whether they are of GOD or of men .
Now dig in that bible and see what the early church had to say about such things .
God wont be mocked he who sows to the flesh shall reap corruption . And the works of the flesh
well its sin , murder , homesexuality , liar , covetousness and that list goes on and on .
IF anyone can justify a sin they DO NOT KNOW CHRIST .

Exactly . This man is given to change , he is in love with change and no longer supports things the apostels said .
Remember what JESUS told even his own . I cannot tell you all things now , but that after HE was risen
the comforter would be sent and would expound all truth unto them . This man is trying to down play things paul said .
They act like somehow what was written in the letters of the apostels dont support Christ . WHEN IN TRUTH
IT DID . The reason a lot of folks dont like paul is due to Romans ONE . NOW YOU GO READ THAT
and see WHAT JUMPS OUT AT YA . A PC SIN DOES . As in politically correct .
Some folks hates what JAMES Wrote , but both groups are picking and choosing and thus both groups are reaping wrath and destruction
upon themselves . WHY would a lamb hate truth , why would any lamb disregaurd truth . Exactly , THEY WONT .

Most do not know the new covenant are not and have not been truly born again .
GOD will write his laws upon our hearts . Our faith would be in JESUS alone . WE would LOVE TRUTH and hate lies .

Yes , pray always , constantly , without ceasing . Who said that by the way , oh yeah pual did .
As i said ALL things they wrote are for our good and let us never once overlook the things they did teach .
Yes, Paul said it, but it would have been true even if Paul didn't say it.

I'm not telling anybody not to use the Bible. I am saying it is not a substitute for God.

And I still can't figure what you are on about. The Bible tells you about God. You read and grow your relationship with him. You pray to Him.
But you come off with this what looks like this or that. Did you stop reading? What part have you read? Do you think maybe God has the whole Bible because He wants you to read it all? And maybe reading more gives new insights? You are supposed to read it with God's help.
Ask for guidance before you read.
And how do people worship the Bible anyway before the Lord? It makes no sense. If you are speaking of a class in college like The Bible as Literature, that's one thing.
How is the Bible a substitute for God?The only way i can figure this out is that you are doing something the Bible forbids but God told you it was OK.
