I've heard all my life that Christ will destroy all the wicked people with the brightness of His coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 says: "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let , until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:"
"shall consume" and "shall destroy" with the brightness of His coming seems pretty clear. So, When will the Lord reign over His enemies then if He consumes and destroys the enemy with the brightness of his coming? If they are destroyed at the brightness of His coming?
Romans 5:17
[17] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:21
[21] That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:25
[25] For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
"For he must reign,"...when? If He destroys and consumes His enemies at His coming...when does He Reign over them? When is the Reign of Christ if the enemy is destroyed at His coming?
Luke 10:19-20
[19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. [20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Does this not mean that those whose names are written in heaven …the spirits are subject to them and they have power over the enemy for His name's sake?
Romans 16:20
[20] And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Isaiah 54:17
[17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
"But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless." (Matthew 12:6-7)
Luke 1:71-75
[71] That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; [72] To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; [73] The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, [74] That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, [75] In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
"...we should be saved from our enemies,..."
"To perform the mercy promised..."
"That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,..." … when?
