Referencing my view on the seven churches (My take on the ages) I believe that the Sardisean church age is the protestant church age right after the catholic church age... A Sardisean believes that everything outside their rigid view is heretic and in false doctrine. My dad dates a Lutheran Gal who simply does not believe that anybody outside of the Lutheran church will make it to heaven.

I was brought up in a Baptist church in which I thought that all Catholics were going to hell, speaking of tongues was of the devil, eternal security, and all that Sardisean stuff. I remember going to a Catholic wedding in which I thought everyone of those people there were bound to have been possessed by a devil and was quit rude in that I was not friendly. It was only after I received the Holy Spirit in a Pentecostal church that I realized that they had it all wrong.

John MacArthur is your typical Sardisean preacher and he had good time putting down the rest of the Christian world. Now, I am not saying that he is speaking falsely... But having been brought up Sardisean (in my case Baptist) its all I heard growing up. In which it gets old listening to someone who is always putting someone else down.

You know you are too Sardisean when God can't get a beam of light and energy (E [Love, warmth, etc] / c2 [faith, hope, charity, joy]) in there edgewise! In which is the case of poor John Calvin... Who after toasting Michael Servetus said, "Whoever shall maintain that wrong is done to heretics and blasphemers in punishing them makes himself an accomplice in their crime and guilty as they are. There is no question here of man's authority; it is God who speaks, and clear it is what law he will have kept in the church, even to the end of the world. Wherefore does he demand of us a so extreme severity, if not to show us that due honor is not paid him, so long as we set not his service above every human consideration, so that we spare not kin, nor blood of any, and forget all humanity when the matter is to combat for His glory."
