I have read my bible through seven times and each time I have read the Old Testament I could only grieve at the precious few who took God at his word and kept the word as it was written in the books of Moses.

I think that the seven church ages are kind like the book of Judges in which we have few hits and many misses. I have also grieved when I read the church ages that we have so few who have entered into the spiritual thrown room to experience the shekinah glory in its true light and energy. How many evangelist do we find before the Philadelphian church age? Precious few! Precious few! And even in our time we have precious few who are evangelizing with pure hearts to see souls saved.

What I was hoping for in posting this is that the board would see that there are seven basic churches. And that they would see that none of them were superior but all had their issues. In understanding this we should have a love and an acceptance one with another...

1. Ephesus - Apostolic
2. Smyrna - Martyrs
3. Pergomos - The Orthodox church has beautiful icons
4. Thyatira - Love the Catholic mass! I enjoy watching some of the programs on Catholic TV

5. Sardis - Love Charles Stanley and the decent Sardisean atmosphere.
6. Philadelphia - Enjoyed the revival!
7. Loadicea - Would like to visit Lakewood one day.

But I don't think that will happen until we all get to heaven!

Veteran.... At least I did a study. You have offered very little intelligently to the conversation of the Seven Churches.

Where exactly does it say church ages?

Butch:

After reading history I find these churches unfolding as ages. It doesn't say ages! But I think there are seven churches that are different in the way they do things. Again, this is my take on the churches and from my perspective.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. - Matthew 5:18

I think that every word spoken to the churches has a very powerful meaning in regards to that specific church. I admit! I have not comprehended the full meaning of the churches. But as a history guy I take great delight in attempting to decipher the meanings of the mystery! Maybe I should drop the word 'age.' But...

There was nothing like the Orthodox church before Constantine (Pergomos)
There was nothing like the Catholic church before Charlemagne (Thyatira)
There was nothing like the Protestant church before Wycliff (Sardis)
There was nothing like the revivals and camp-meetings before Wesley (Philadelphia)
There was nothing like the charismatic churches before Billy Graham (Laodicea)

I don't know it all! Come learn with me!

Edit - You may cause me to redo this video yet again!
