John 3:16, God gave his only son, the cost behind the love, love is proven not by words, but by what it is willing to give. Jesus did not say God felt love, he said God gave and what he gave was not excess, not convenience, not something replaceable, he gave his only son. These words carry a weight that cannot be rushed past, to give a son is to give the future, to give an only son is to give everything. This was not a poetic phrase meant to sound dramatic, it was a declaration of cost, God’s love would not remain distant or theoretical, it would step into flesh, it would walk among those who misunderstood it, it would endure rejection, betrayal, silence and suffering. The giving began not at the cross, but at the incarnation, when heaven chose limitation and eternity stepped into time, Jesus knew where this road led.

John 3:1-16 is not spoken from ignorance of the cross, it is spoken in full awareness of it, the Father did not send the son hoping things might work out. This was not an experiment, it was a rescue mission designed before the foundation of the world, the giving of the son reveals that God’s love is intentional, costly and irreversible, this is where the verse stops being sentimental. The price of love was bloodless in the moment Jesus spoke, but it was already decided, love would absorb judgment, innocence would stand in the place of guilt. The son would carry what the world could not bear and the Father would allow it, not because he lacked power, but because he refused to lose you. For Nicodemus, this was more than theology, it was a invitation to reimagine God, not as distant lawgiver, but as sacrificial Father.

John 3:16 reveals a God who does not demand payment before giving grace, but gives himself as the payment. The invitation to everyone, the depth of God’s love and the cost of giving his son, Jesus turns to a word that opens the door wide, whoever, not whoever qualifies, not whoever proves themselves worthy, simply whoever believes it. This single word collapses every barrier humans instinctively build, race, background, failure, education, reputation, past, present or fear, the invitation is universal, but it is not vague, it is specific, it calls for belief. Biblical belief is not passive agreement, it is not mental acknowledgement or emotional admiration, to believe in the way Jesus means it, is to place trust, to lean the full weight of your life onto him, it is a surrender of self-rescue.

Its a powerful statement. I find it interesting that in an age where it seems words and narratives have become the language of truth and even reality itself. Where someones testimony and experience is listened to and valued above all else.

It seems to me John 3:16 is such a simple and powerful testimony not just of John or the disciples or Christians declaring this truth. But that God Himself declares it as His truth. As His testimony and words to all.

The power of the word. Humans have communicated this way for millenia. The testimony of telling truths from lived experiences. Christ lived our experiences so that we could know Gods love. The words are simple and powerful and are lived out and continue to be testified.

Mark 5:1-14, here is a powerful and highly shocking story, illustrating the ultimate goal Jesus has for your mind, this man represents the extreme of a mind completely taken over by the enemy. While most people are not in that exact physical situation, many people today live in a very similar mental state, they constantly isolate themselves from the good people who love them, they choose to live among the dead things of their past, constantly replaying their old mistakes, their old failures and their regrets. And they deeply hurt themselves with the sharp stones of guilt, shame and dark self-hatred, the enemy loves to drive people out into the lonely tombs of their own minds.

Mark 5:15, the true sign of this man finding total spiritual freedom was that his mind was restored to complete sanity and peace, this is what Jesus wants to do for you today. The enemy has tried to hijack your thoughts for years, they have tried to make you believe that you are going crazy, that you are broken beyond repair and that you will always be a helpless slave to your deep anxiety, but Jesus has the ultimate power to restore you to your right mind. When the presence of Jesus enters your life, the chaotic voices of the enemy must pack up and leave immediately, you do not have to live under the weight of your past mistakes anymore, you can sit at the feet of Jesus, fully clothed in his righteousness with a calm, peaceful and perfectly right mind.

Romans 3:23, Paul summarizes humanity’s deepest problem, one that affects every person, regardless of age, culture or background, sin isn’t just an abstract concept or a list of bad behaviors. Sin is a condition, a brokenness at the very core of humanity, Paul paints a vivid picture of humanity’s descent into sin and idolatry in Romans chapter 1, he describes how people turned away from God, worshiping created things, rather than the creator. This wasn’t just a failure in worship, it was a rebellion against God’s purpose for humanity.

When people worship idols, whether physical objects, power status or personal freedom, they place something else at the center of their lives, instead of God. Paul explains, that this misalignment affects every part of human existence, leading to brokenness in relationships, morality and even within yourself. Sin isn’t just about wrong actions, it’s about a deep separation from God, this separation impacts every aspect of who you are, it leads you away from God’s design and brings confusion, selfishness and despair. Paul’s description of sin may sound intense, but he’s not exaggerating, he’s showing you the truth of humanity’s need for a savior.

Romans 3:10-12, this might seem harsh, but Paul isn’t condemning humanity, he’s diagnosing the problem. Paul’s point is that sin isn’t just a series of mistakes you can make up for by being better, sin is a condition that separates you from God, leaving you in need of rescue. The reality of sin might be one of the hardest teachings in Romans, yet it’s one of most necessary, in our modern world, where people often place emphasis on self-help, improvement and self-acceptance, the concept of sin can seem out of place, but Paul’s teaching on sin, confronts you with an uncomfortable truth, there’s a part of you that can’t be fixed by effort alone, there’s a part of your nature that only God’s grace can heal.

In a culture that teaches you to be your own saviors, Paul reminds you, that you need a savior who is far greater than yourself. Sin is more than just an individual problem, it’s a force that affects families, societies and even entire nations, you see the effects of sin every day in your world, the conflicts, the injustice, the selfishness and the indifference toward others. Paul’s description of sin might seem ancient, but it’s incredibly relevant, the same brokenness he observed in the Roman Empire is still evident today, proving that humanity hasn’t outgrown its need for redemption.

Matthew 11:28, the modern world constantly tells you that the key to strength is absolute independence, you are taught from a young age to pull yourself up, to never ask for help and to carry your own weight, you believe that if you just push a little harder and work a little longer, you can conquer any problem. But eventually, everyone reaches a breaking point, there comes a moment when the heavy weight of life becomes completely crushing, you realize that your own human strength is limited and it is quickly running out. It is in these moments of total exhaustion that Jesus offers you a secret that sounds completely backwards to human logic, true strength and resilience are not found in fighting harder, they are actually found in surrender.

There is an instruction in Ephesians 5:1 that seems impossible at first reading, imitate God, not admire him from a distance, not just obey him out of obligation, but imitate him, reproduce in daily life something of the character of the one who created the universe. This instruction only makes sense within a relationship, Paul is not inviting anyone to try to copy divine attributes by their own effort, he is speaking to children, people who having received the life of God, carry within them the ability to reflect something of the father. Just as a child naturally reproduces gestures, expressions and values of the parents they live with. The believer who dwells in the presence of God, begins to reflect what they contemplate.

Ephesians 5:2, the imitation of God does not manifest in power, authority or demonstrations of spiritual strength, it manifests in love that spends itself, that serves, that supports, that does not keep track of the coast. In the midst of the chaos of evil days, broken relationships, daily injustices, pressures that erode patience, imitating God means choosing love, when the flesh would prefer retaliation, it is not sentimentalism, it is a decision that goes against natural instinct and that is only sustained when there is a deep conviction that this path is the right one. The chaos around will never be a valid excuse to abandon character, the possibility of living elevated in the midst of the most adverse circumstances, imitating God in the midst of chaos is not a romanticization of faith, it is the recognition that divine character is the only fixed point in a world that changes all the time and that anchoring life in this character is the most solid way to weather any storm without losing the essence of who one is.

A person’s presence can bring a sense of conviction, even when very little is said, this does not mean that the believer is judging others or trying to make people uncomfortable. Rather, the Bible teaches that the presence of truth and righteousness naturally reveals the difference between light and darkness. When someone sincerely seeks to live according to God’s word, their actions, attitudes and choices often reflect a different standard, this difference can cause others to think more deeply about their own decisions and values. Ephesians 5:8-9, living as children of light, means that a believer’s life reflects goodness, righteousness and truth. John 3:21, light does not argue loudly with darkness, it simply reveals what is there.

Yet it is Christ THROUGH Paul that teaches how we are saved today and not John.
I had to shake my head and do a double take as I thought I was having deja vu. Then I realised you posted the same reply in another thread lol. You have a mission for Paul. I don't blame you.
Who did Christ select as the Apostle & Minister to the Gentiles ?
Acts 9:15

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, ...
Rom 11:13
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles...
Rom 15:16
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God...

The other Apostles agreed & knew who taught who
Gal 2:2

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles,....
Gal 2:7
But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
Gal 2:9
And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

What is the role of an Apostle/Minister ?
To teach THEIR audience.
BUT NOW there are NO SEPARATE audiences ALL are equal :-
Gal 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 6:15
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
1 Cor 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Col 3:11
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

How are believers 'today' saved, sealed, justified, made righteous ?
By the SAVING Gospel that applies today.
Gal 1:11-12
11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 15:1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Eph 1:13
13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

The PERFORMANCE conditions :-
Titus 3:

5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Gal 2:
16Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Rom 3:
28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Eph 2:

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Rom 4:
5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Rom 5:
1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Rom 14:10
10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
1 Cor 3:10-15
10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
2 Cor 5:10
10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
I have sort of answered this in the other thread. Only for context in this thread I would add that I agree Paul is primarily the teacher of the gospel to the Gentiles. Though he does address the Jews as well and by relating the gospel to the prophesies. That Christ was the promised Messiah they have been waiting for.

But I think they all teach the same gospel. They are just applying this to different audiences.

As I mentioned Peter had to leave Jerusalem and had to address the issue of the Gentiles ande adjust his teaching. You could imagine the other disciples like Thomas and Andrew preaching in far away nations where the audience was non Jewish. They would not have lasted long of they started going on about rituals. They would have preached the simple gospel as a witness to Christ. Thats all that was needed.

The unique position John was in is that he was the last to die and spent some 30 plus years as the only original disciple. He was looked upon as the last true witness for the truth of Gods word. Many came to him to clarify disputes over Gods word.

The founding fathers of the church were the disciples of John like Polycarp of Smyrna and Ignatius of Antioch. Where there were plenty of Gentiles. Basically all disciples had to adjust for the Gentiles.

Clement of Rome was a disciple of Peter heading the Gentile church. I am sure Peter set him right in how to preach to such an audience.

But also Barnabas, Silas, Timothy and John Mark. They also helped Paul preach to the Gentiles. In some ways the gospel from the Jewish perspective was short lived because it quickly spread beyond Jerusalem to the Gentiles in surrounding cities and nations.
