Brethren in Christ:

Don't be deceived as some of these folks on this Thread are. They are wrongly pushing a single world peace that only happens with Christ's future return. They are PURPOSEFULLY OMITTING the fake world peace that the false-Messiah will bring first, PRIOR to Christ's return later to destroy that false one.

Just as many of those same deceived tried to push the false idea that Christ's Kingdom has fully come already to this present earth age, they wrongly believe the only prophecy left to happen is Christ's future return. They are deceived, and they are prepared to bow in false worship to the wrong Messiah, which the first supernatural Messiah that shows up in Jerusalem at the end of this present world will be a FAKE.

And that IS... what God's Word teaches AS WRITTEN, so don't listen to their LIES that it ain't written in God's Word. It is, and Jesus was emphatic with His warning about it, as Apostles Paul and John also were. (Matthew 24:15-26; 2 Thessalonians 2; Revelation 13:11-14; Revelation 13:4-8; Revelation 17:8-14; 2 Corinthians 11; Daniel 8:9-12; Daniel 8:23-25; Daniel 9:27; Daniel 11:21-45).

Biblica, you are right - we derailed your topic. Davy and I allowed a narrower disagreement about “peace” and the Antichrist to consume the thread. I sincerely apologize for my part in that.

In answer to your topic, let me offer my own perspective.

Have you considered that Christ is already seated at the right hand of the throne of God and has already begun His reign over the earth?

That question may place Isaiah’s prophecies into a different order. Perhaps the peace described by Isaiah does not wait for Christ to begin reigning after His return. It may be the historical fruit of the reign He has already received and is presently exercising.

I agree with your central confession: Jesus is the Messiah, and His failure to establish the completed peace described by Isaiah during His earthly ministry does not disprove His messiahship. I wonder, however, whether the timing in your argument is reversed.

You place Isaiah’s promised peace entirely after Christ returns and judges the world. Yet Isaiah appears to describe nations being instructed and transformed within history:

The nations first come to the Lord, learn His ways, and begin walking in His paths. As a consequence, warfare is suppressed and instruments of destruction are redirected toward productive purposes.

That sequence seems difficult to place after the final judgment. Once Christ returns, raises the dead, separates the sheep from the goats, and delivers the consummated kingdom to the Father, there will be no nations remaining to convert, no warfare to suppress, and no weapons requiring conversion into farm implements.

Isaiah 11 makes the same connection. The peace described by the wolf dwelling with the lamb is explained by the words:

The Root of Jesse stands as an ensign, the nations seek Him, the knowledge of God spreads throughout the earth, and peace follows. This looks like the historical fruit of Messiah’s reign as the nations are brought under His teaching.

Daniel also presents Messiah’s kingdom as beginning and growing within history. In Daniel 2, the stone strikes the image during the period of the earthly empires, becomes a mountain, and fills the earth. In Daniel 7, the Son of Man comes to the Ancient of Days and receives dominion, glory, and a kingdom.

The direction here makes a difference, IMO. The Son approaches the Father in heaven and receives His kingdom. This corresponds naturally to Christ’s resurrection, ascension, and enthronement at the Father’s right hand.

Paul then says that Christ “must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet,” with death identified as the last enemy (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). Christ reigns now, His enemies are progressively subdued, and death is finally destroyed at the resurrection when He returns.

That places Isaiah’s conversion of the nations and suppression of warfare during Christ’s present reign, before His return. The final judgment brings that historical work to its consummation.

I also have difficulty reading Daniel 11 as a simple chronological continuation after the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. Daniel 10 through 12 introduces another vision that begins again with Persia, proceeds into Greece and the divided Greek kingdom, and then describes Antiochus Epiphanes. The narrative has already returned to events centuries before Christ. A separate argument would therefore be needed to establish that Daniel 11:36 suddenly moves thousands of years forward to a final Antichrist.

The same question arises in Matthew 24. Jesus places “all these things,” including the Great Tribulation, within “this generation” (Matthew 24:34). Luke’s parallel identifies the approaching desolation with Jerusalem being surrounded by armies. That points me toward the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 rather than another attack shortly before the final judgment.

The view I am describing is postmillennialism. Greg Bahnsen presents it far better, and much more warmly, than I can in a forum post. I would sincerely recommend his free three-part audio series, Why I Am a Postmillennialist?.

The three recordings cover:

  • The chronology of history;
  • The nature of Christ’s kingdom; and
  • Christ’s expectation for His earthly kingdom.

Bahnsen works directly through Isaiah 2 and 11, Daniel 2 and 7, Psalm 72, the Great Commission, and 1 Corinthians 15. His basic point is that the peace promised by Isaiah is the historical result of the nations being converted and taught God’s ways.

So I agree with you that Isaiah promises something much greater than private spiritual peace. My difference concerns when that promise is fulfilled. I believe Christ has already received His kingdom, is presently subduing His enemies through the gospel, and will fulfill these promises in history before He returns to destroy the last enemy and consummate His reign.

Again, I apologize for helping to pull your original topic into the ditch.

In His Grip,
S.J.
I appreciate your apology. While Jesus is seated presently at the right hand of the Father and spiritual peace is spreading through the gospel, He will still return after Israel endures a second captivity, Zechariah 14, Rev. 19. When Jesus returns the wicked are removed leaving others to remain which we see happening in 24:39, 40. These survivors will be among the sheep and goats, the "cattle" Ezekiel 34:17 that appear at the judgment Matthew 25:31-46. The generation Jesus is speaking about in Matthew is concerning the period of time between the budding of the fig tree which is symbolic of Israel's becoming a nation and Jesus' actual return.

Daniel 11 is in two parts. The first deals with Antiochus who is a foreshadow of the final antichrist. The transition to the modern antichrist is marked by what I call "bridge" scriptures. There is a pattern of connecting scriptures being added between passages when a transition is going to take place. An example of this is Rev. 13 when the description of the beast system changes to the antichrist. The bridge scriptures there are verses 9 and 10 before the description of the antichrist begins. In this case the verses 32, 33 which in part describe the Maccabees who fought to defeat him, which includes their counterparts that we see are now in the "time of the end" (verse 35), signaling that the remainder of the chapter is now transitioning into another time period. The final verses from 36-45 are describing the last antichrist who invades Israel. The attack on Jerusalem Daniel 12:1, which Jesus describes as great tribulation, correlates to Matthew 24:15-21 and Rev 14:14-20.

The nations will be converted when Jesus returns and He reigns from Jerusalem and the people are restored after the second captivity. That is the time when all the nations will come to Jerusalem to worship Him and keep the feast of tabernacles Zechariah 14:16-21.

There will be no TRUE world peace without Christ Jesus' return, with that I agree. But there will be a FAKE world peace presented by the coming false-Messiah who will try and be Christ, with the power of great signs, wonders, and miracles. Many will fall away to that first one coming who will deceive them with Peace and Safety. And that is what Apostle Paul was pointing to in 1 Thessalonians 5, and that Lord Jesus was pointing to when He said we'd hear of wars and rumors of war, BUT the end is not yet.
There is no world peace described in Daniel 11, only a world dictator who is also being challenged by the king of the north and the south. Any peace is an enforced dictatorlike peace because the world will be so tightly controlled, much like the social credit score system in China which is becoming a dominant world power. They currently have the largest bank in the entire world worth trillions, and a controlling digital ID system is in the works. The signs and wonders are technical and the world is already being deceived by technology. We can only get a clear picture when we co-ordinate everything and compare it to what is happening in the world. Look for global food shortages that will possibly require a one world food rationing system.

That isn't following the Daniel 11 Scripture about the "vile person" (Antichrist) either. The "vile person", which is a title for the final Antichrist coming at the end of this world, will come to power as king in Jerusalem using PEACE and FLATTERY, not war.
Zechariah 14 deals with the time after the antichrist has been defeated. The first part of Daniel 11 describes Antiochus the second part describes the last antichrist and he is from "the people who destroyed the city" Daniel 9:26, meaning Jerusalem in 70 AD. The linked to the people who destroyed the city is significant, as Daniel 11:41 has him invading the Holy Land. Israel's current behavior is setting them up for their prophesied invasion.

Thanks for clarifying your position. I'd like to begin with the chronology and leave the other passages aside for the moment.

Paul gives us a straightforward order in 1 Corinthians 15:

“Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end...

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”

  1. Christ is reigning now.
  2. He continues reigning until His enemies have been placed beneath His feet.
  3. Death is the last enemy, and it is destroyed through the resurrection at His coming.
  4. Then comes the end, when Christ delivers the completed kingdom to the Father.

Matthew 25 confirms this chronology. When the Son of Man comes in His glory, all nations are gathered before Him and separated as sheep from goats. Jesus expressly states their destinations:

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

According to Paul, that's it. there are no mortal survivors who subsequently enter an age of national conversion. The sheep enter eternal life, and the goats enter everlasting punishment, and that's it.

So my question is narrow:
Where in Paul’s chronology do you find an age after Christ’s return in which nations remain to be converted?

Paul gives us Christ’s present reign, His coming and the resurrection, the destruction of death as the last enemy, and then the end.

In His Grip!

I don't rely just on Paul's chronology. In order for any interpretation to be correct all the scriptures have to be consulted. When Jesus returns any survivors from the tribulation and the time of wrath will have that opportunity to receive Jesus. We see in Zechariah 12 that the Jews will look upon Me (God) whom that have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him (Christ) as one mourns for his only son... Zech. 12:10.
Again as I previously explained, the judgment seat of Christ occurs after His return and there are nations (the cattle) in Ezekiel who are judged and the nations that remain are required to attend the feast of tabernacles in Jerusalem every year. Zechariah 14. Jesus reigns for 1000 years, then comes the end. Paul wrote his epistle many years before John received his prophecy which filled in more details.

I am not a preterist, where do you get that from? Jesus' currently bringing men to salvation and in a spiritual sense He is here through the workings of His Holy Spirit, but He is not ruling over a worldly kingdom. He will rule and reign when He physically comes at His second coming. Daniel's prophecy from 9:26 to chapter twelve does not reveal a world peace. Jesus said there would be wars and rumors of wars up to the tribulation. The point I was making in my post is that if a Jew read Daniel's prophecy he would see that there is no time of world peace as recorded in Isaiah where the wolf lies down with the lamb, etc, or a benevolent messiah anywhere in that prophecy up the end. Therefore the basis for rejecting Jesus as Messiah on the basis of His failure to being in a time of peace in His lifetime is invalid as the scriptures do not support that time of peace arriving until after the judgment according to Daniel. You are confusing a temporary peace deal in the Middle East with the prophesied world wide time of peace that the Messiah Jesus ushers at His visible second coming.

I haven't read any of your posts. There is no world peace during the tribulation. Jesus shows us in Matthew 24 that the tribulation begins with an attack on Jerusalem. And further more, the subject of my post is validating the Messiah through Daniel's prophecy, a subject which you have tried to derail which is not appreciated. And as far as my Christianity is concerned, I have been serving Jesus through many hardships as an evangelist fulltime for over thirty-five years. If you base someone's Christianity on whether they agree with your posts, then I sincerely question your understanding of the gospel.

Was that before or after John Calvin rulled Geneva like a mob boss putting hits out on people having therm whacked for not agreeing with his so called "reformed" teachings?

Tell you what, Dan, why don't you start a new thread on Servetus and you can rant about Calvin there instead of derailing this one. I'll join you.

Start the thread with your understanding of the circumstances that led Servetus to Geneva in the first place. Don't forget to include that he was already a fugitive, traveling under assumed identities after fleeing Catholic authorities on charges of heresy.

Then give us your best critique of Calvin's role in what happened. At least we'll have the discussion where it belongs and can deal with the actual history.

Yes he rejected catholic heresy as well as calvinist heresy so both of these cults were out to whack him.

John Calvin was the one that put the hit out on him in behalf of the calvinist cult.

The catholics and the calvinists don't have the Holy Spirit and don't know the Lord and so they advocate for their father the devil. That about wraps up what happened and the current state of these two cults.

Biblica stated: I don't rely just on Paul's chronology. Zech. 12:10.

We agree - all scriptures must be consulted. So help walk me through how you arrived at survivors when Jesus returns. Zechariah 12:10 cannot be assigned to a post-return opportunity for salvation without first consulting its New Testament fulfillment.

Zechariah gives us this order:
  1. The Spirit of grace and supplication is poured out.
  2. The people look upon the One they pierced.
  3. They mourn over what they have done.
John applies the piercing directly to Christ’s crucifixion:

“And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.” (John 19:37)

Acts 2 then gives us the rest of Zechariah’s pattern. The risen Christ, having been exalted to the Father’s right hand, pours out the Holy Spirit:

“He hath poured forth this, which ye see and hear.” (Acts 2:33)

Peter tells the people that God has made Jesus, “whom ye crucified,” both Lord and Christ. Their response is exactly the mourning and supplication described by Zechariah:

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said... Brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:36-37)

The pierced Messiah is proclaimed, the Spirit is poured out, and the people mourn and call upon Him in repentance. Zechariah 12 is describing the saving work Christ began through the gospel at Pentecost.

I also believe Scripture gives us reason to expect a much greater conversion of ethnic Israel in history. Zechariah 12 may therefore have a continuing and expanding fulfillment. Nothing in the passage places that repentance after Christ’s bodily return.

Also, Zechariah 12:10 never mentions survivors of a future tribulation, an opportunity for salvation after Christ returns, or a mortal population entering a thousand-year kingdom. Those details come from the premillennial timeline and are then read into Zechariah.

So my question remains narrow. If no single verse states this expressly, please walk me through the chain of passages from which you deduce it:
  1. Which passage establishes that unconverted people survive Christ’s bodily return?
  2. Which passage establishes an interval after His return during which they are offered the gospel and may receive Him?
  3. When all nations are judged in Matthew 25, where does Jesus say that these survivors enter the kingdom as mortals? If they are the sheep, Jesus assigns them eternal life. If they are the goats, He assigns them eternal punishment. Where is the third outcome?
In HIs Grip,
S.J.

....
Also, Zechariah 12:10 never mentions survivors of a future tribulation, an opportunity for salvation after Christ returns, or a mortal population entering a thousand-year kingdom. Those details come from the premillennial timeline and are then read into Zechariah.

Of course that statement that Zechariah 12 does not involve the unbelieving Jews appearing in shame when Jesus returns, is false.

In Romans 11 Apostle Paul showed that the spiritual stupor that God put upon the majority of Jews so The Gospel would go to the Gentiles will not be removed until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in, and that won't be completed until Christ's future 2nd coming.

With the parable of "Blessed are the barren..." that Jesus quoted to the daughters of Jerusalem that wept for Him on His way to be crucified, Jesus showed the day would come when they would say that, "Blessed are the barren..." about those in Christ who were not deceived. And then it says those Jews will wish for the mountains and the hills to fall upon them, which represents their shame at having rejected Lord Jesus when He returns.

Even the following with the wicked "synagogue of Satan" being made to come worship Christ at the feet of His elect in that FUTURE THOUSAND YEARS of Revelation 20, is solid proof that the coming Millennium will happen as written...

Rev 3:9
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
KJV

The Old Testament also reveals that future Millennium time of Christ's reign with His elect over the wicked with the kings of the earth that followed Satan locked in his pit prison with him during that period...

Isa 24:21-23
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

22
And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before His ancients gloriously.
KJV

Thus the Zechariah 14:8-11 and Zechariah 14:16-21 Scripture are all future Millennial passages that happen AFTER Christ's 2nd coming. And it has NOTHING to do with men's seminary doctrines, nor the false pre-trib rapture theory. It is God's Word as written, regardless of false associations with men's doctrines.
