"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb"
Immediately these passages in Isaiah show us this subdued nature of a great conflict and battle amidst the animal kingdom. A war waged has been subdued and there is harmony and peace among those beast that would usually tear at each other. There is such a harsh nature amongst the animal kingdom that truly displays a fallen world. When hens find a weak spot on another hen; an irritated spot:
the other hens will peck and peck and peck at the irritated spot. They will not stop pecking at the other hen's weakness, until they kill it. Yes, the animal kingdom displays man, who is prone to do the same thing: find a weakness of a brother, an irritation and then they go to work pecking at that weakness. In Isaiah, it is comforting to read of harmony and rest of such brutality among beast.
But there is a message deeper. There is also a peace in a spiritual battle that has been waged and fought and WON. There is a harmony of what was once...at war is now at peace. And if we really pay attention to Isaiah 11, then we will see our "King of peace" has subdued all things including the nature of the beast of mankind.
Isaiah 11:6-10
[6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. [7] And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. [8] And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. [9] They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord , as the waters cover the sea. [10] And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
We have to wonder why in (Matthew 21:8-11) "And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way." One has to ask, "what sucking child played on the hole of the asp?"
Back up to Isaiah 11:2-4
It is Jesus Christ. He is that weaned child made of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord. It is His work that resides in the harmony and peace of Isaiah 11:6-10 [6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. [7] And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. [10] And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
A spiritual battle has ended and there is...quiet. Peace between the wolf and the Lamb. Peace in "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord"
Isaiah 11:8
[8] And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
The "weaned child" shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Genesis 21:6-9
[6] And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. [7] And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. [8] And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. [9] And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
Psalm 131:1-2
[1] Lord , my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. [2] Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
Isaiah 28:9
[9] Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Luke 10:18-19
[18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. [19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

[2] And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord ; [3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord : and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: [4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
