The question in this Bible Study is, "Does God identify part of his own Creation as detestable?"
In Levititus 11:42 it reads:
whatever moves on its stomach, goes on all fours, or has many legs — all creatures that swarm on the ground; you are not to eat them, because they are a detestable thing.
As far as I can tell, there is no indication these creatures are made demonically. So, it begs the question why are these creatures detestable to God?
I can tell you what I have learned from those verses in Lev. 11, but LOL we don't see eye to eye on much, Wrangler, so I don't expect you to accept anything I say. I'm sorry to say!
If you read the surrounding context you'll see that there are several things that God has declared "unclean" for the soon to be nation of Israel, concerning His Law. But why just this particular people. The Gentiles could touch and eat anything they pleased, but not the Chosen of God!
There lies the reason, Israel was set apart from the rest of world. They were the Chosen of God to bear the His Law in the preparation of the Coming Messiah. In other words, God chose Israel to give the Law to prepare them for the coming Messiah, that they would be prepared when the Messiah came, in or to present the Messiah to the world. Of course they failed in this calling and God turned to the Gentiles to proclaim the Messiah to the world.
They were set apart in this manner and given no an explanation as to why, to teach them to obey. They were now under the Law of God, they didn't have to understand everything, as even if God had explained they would not have understood. They were to obey, period.
As you probably know, Paul discussed the "unclean" as far as unclean food for the Jews, many times to clarify this. The reason of clarifying is that when the Messiah sacrificed himself on the Cross and ushered in the New Covenant, in His Blood, the unclean Law was lifted. As you know Paul taught there is nothing unclean, which was the opposite of the Law teaching.
This is one of the many examples we have in Scripture that shows the passing from the Law to the New Covenant Grace. The keeping of Law that God physically demanded by His Chosen has passed away, in that Christ fulfilled that Law in every aspect. Now that He has done this for us, when no other man could, God demands faith in His Son for justification, which is what the Apostle Paul taught us in the bringing in of the Second Covenant of Grace.
Much, much more to be said, but that is it in a nutshell, so to speak.
