Thought traps are anything that catches your attention and gets you to think about it for a while.
Some examples are things like:
Ear worms
Relationships/conversations
Planning future projects, events, work, trips, and etc.
Puzzles
Poetry....
Movies you have seen
Books you have read.
Clothing, food, parties....
Workout routines....

Now the trap is when two or more of these things are tied together in some fashion.....you cant let your mind rest because of the double trap.

Now if you pay attention, you can figure out that certain WEALTHY people have their own very special thought traps that have made them hundreds of millions of dollars. (Elon, Donald, Kash, and etc)

What is yours?
I have mine but I'll hold on to it for a bit until the thread takes off.

I love quotes from Scriptures, Pinterest Quotes, Journaling, and cooking colorful food ---just the beauty of it.

I think about cleaning a lot because I started out not great at it as a younger adult. Its gotten better.

I think about fitness and weight loss a lot because I have a weight loss goal.

I listen to the same chillhop Playlist over and over again.

Right now Im thinking about the sheer amount of content online that's designed to cause you to worry and be afraid.

For example, social media posts about how social media is ruining us and causing the sky to fall. Even if it is, can I really help things by worrying about it?

Elon Musk is also a puzzle person.
Except his is on a mechanical level as well as programming involved.

Mine can and has involved scriptures. Sure, we read them in English but so much has been left out because it was "common knowledge " and a part of the Hebrew language and customs that filled in the blanks....
And then you throw in the poetry and prose of scripture...all the typology and symbolism. It's a collection of authors agreeing perfectly with each other....it becomes an insane puzzle to figure out due to the complexity of several levels of thought written across hundreds of years in perfect synchronicity.

A level of complex writing that cannot happen. Except it did...and it will never happen again. The scriptures are a miracle in themselves. There's a reason why it is attacked so much. Why people want you to read the most difficult translations to understand, why the real helps/keys for assistance in understanding scriptures are unavailable to the average individual. How some of these denomination pet theologies are so protected....
And most especially....What is true? Why was it written? Why did the writer say it the way it was said? For what purpose?

That's a different sort of thought trap....its influence....getting a person to focus on things they ordinarily would not.
It's very much a thought trap that some people have a very difficult time getting past.

It's called "farming". The Social Media algorithms are sowing seeds of anger, fear, joy, lust, or whatever to keep you engaged. It can absolutely control people's perspectives and attitudes. Much of the political angst today is a twofold factor result of obvious election cheating and social media hype. Kinda forced into it with quarantines.....

Platforms like this one have a double offering friendships/relationships as well as anger/battle with the various theologies. (This is Social Media) There is always an information component that is attractive as well.
But essentially there was a full on guerrilla war going on in Europe over theology during the whole time the USA was founded with colonists and migrations. It is carried on today but online without the bloodshed.

You definitely hit the nail on the head....

I'm more focused on naturally forming thought traps.....
Things you ponder when not influenced.....

I love my puzzles.
Watching God work, how God has used us through relationships. How scriptures describe EVERY sitiation we face today.....how I need to continue sanding and grinding paint.....upcoming repairs....that sort of thing.

My husband loves mental puzzles too. He is a truck driver but he listens to a lot of cultural and social issue debates on headphones to make the day go faster.
