Philippians 3:15,

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Now you come to the little word perfect. Paul said "let us therefore," talking to those that know, who are maturing in understanding "be thus minded." The word perfect also has to do with your completion In Christ. But Paul is dealing with the mind here, the soul-mind of man. What is thus minded? You get fixed in your mind that you are not the things you used to be. You are not a drug addict, an alcoholic, or anything else that seperates you from who you are. You may do those things and maybe even worse but that is not who you are.

You may even say! I don't believe all this and this seems like a bunch of psychology." You better believe it is because Paul was the greatest psychologist to ever live because he knew what made the human beings tick. He understood your completion in spirit in Christ, at the same time he understood the mind needed to be renewed to that fact. Sounds so simple, but most human beings will spend a lifetime getting to know the facts of what happened in spirit if they get them at all. Don't confuse Paul with philosophy, philosophy is exactly that a philosophy it is not the gospel.

So thus minded is you have changed your mind, you can nolonger stand and say "this sickness runs in our family, or granddaddy did it this way and I'm going to do it that way." On and on the list goes, can you see how change will effect every area of your life. Or our family has always been (whatever denomination you are) I was born one and I'll die one. Your a fool and have no mind of your own, you have a feel good religion, makes you feel good to be part of the family. Nothing wrong with being part of the family accept you need mind change, and you just may be the one to bring it to your family and friends.

Does it need repeating that this only can come about as the HolySpirit makes it real to you (revelation). But you will make the mind change when it is revealed to you. Why so many different levels of understanding, people are at different levels of revelation. Why do so many disagree? different levels of revelation. Both may be right but see things on different levels. When revelation comes to a believer most of the time they will not need confirmation, but there are instances where another believer can spurr on revelation by confirming to a believer these things are so. When Paul had his revelation of the indwelling Christ he conferred not with flesh and blood, Galatians 1:15-16.

I do enjoy reading your posts so, for in them a heart after God can be seen.

Hello @soul man,

Interesting entry there. :)

To know what Paul was referring to when he said these words, I looked back to what had been said before it.

He starts the chapter with an exhortation 'rejoice in the Lord', and a warning in verses 2-3, 'beware'; and also a statement of faith, 'For we ... worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.' Before going on to give a word of personal testimony, as to why, in the flesh (as an Israelite), he had reason to have confidence (verses 4-6). But, Praise God! He then gives reasons why those things, though 'gain' to him, he counted as 'loss' for Christ in verses 7-8. For the 'excellency' of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, his risen and glorified Saviour, Lord and Head, far outweighed his advantages in the flesh.

* He had, in the flesh, suffered the loss of all things, but counted that loss as but 'dung', something vile and contemptible, in comparison with His goal, 'to win Christ, and be found in Him': (v.9) - not having his own righteousness, which was of the law, 'but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith'. Praise God!

* He goes on:- 'That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death, If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. (v.10-11)

'Not as though I had already attained,
.. either were already perfect:
.... but I follow after,
...... if that I may apprehend
........ that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:
.. but this one thing I do,
.... forgetting those things which are behind,
...... and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
........ I press toward the mark for the prize
.......... of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

(Philippians 3:12-14)

* This was Paul's 'MIND' - clearly stated. Praise God!
* This is the 'MIND' - he would have us emulate, isn't it?

* Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded:
and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded,
God shall reveal even this unto you.'

(verse 15)

* Paul wants his readers to be of one accord and of one mind (Philippians 2:1-2)
* Let it be, Lord, Let it be! (for Your Name and Glory's sake)

Thank you.
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Hello again, @soul man

May you be blessed:-

'He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens,
.. that He might fill all things.)
And He gave some, apostles;
.. and some, prophets;
.... and some, evangelists;
...... and some, pastors
........ and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints,
.. for the work of the ministry,
.... for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith,
.. and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
.... unto a perfect man,
...... unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children,
.. tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
.... by the sleight of men,
...... and cunning craftiness,
........ whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love,
.. may grow up into Him in all things,
.... which is the head,
...... even Christ:
From whom the whole body fitly joined together
.. and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,
.... according to the effectual working in the measure of every part,
...... maketh increase of the body
........ unto the edifying of itself
.......... in love.'

(Ephesians 4:10-16)

Praise God! - For He is faithful and will do it.

Praise His Holy Name!

Thank you, again, SM.
In Christ Jesus
Chris
