We live in a predictable time for this world... for those that have sat down, prayed for and received the Holy Spirit and then read the Bible to learn about this God that has given them Eternal Life. But, there lays the problem. It's so much trouble to be saved and then that book goes on forever.

And the gray headed of fossil pulled his tongue out of his cheek, grinned and drove his wheelchair off into the shadows.

Yep, it takes fifteen to twenty minutes a day to read the Bible in a year... big inconvenience, isn't it? So, instead, as a nation, we sit in a church building for about an hour on Sunday Morning, sng a couple of songs we do not know the words to and then listen to a softer version of Jim Jones as he tickles our ears and explains to us that everyone is going to Heaven.

LORD, your people are very few, no wonder it is taking two thousand years to fill all the rooms in your house.

Amen Mr. Taylor

What will a man give in exchange for his soul? All of his time, all of his heart, all of his mind, and all of his might?

Sounds reasonable.

Hi Taylor,
You are so right on all you have said. One thing that should be taught at church is hermeneutics, or how to read the bible with understanding. Just reading the bible is good, but to read it and understand it would mean so much more.

Thank you both and I also wish that hermeneutics were taught but without the course, fresh off the stage and out of the SE Texas juke joints, I was overcome by the Holy Spirit and with only my small type KJV, it suddenly made perfect sense.

The Holy Spirit had been troubling me for over 23 years and the evening before my last gig, I finished my practice, packed my gear for travel and read John 3 and did not understand. As I sang in the New Year for a bar full of drunks, sluts and womanizers, the Spirit overcame me and I packed my gear and went home without the three hundred dollar down payment for a used car to get me off my auction sold bicycle with two may pop tires and knew I was blessed. At the apartment I stored my gear, opened the Bible, randomly, to Genesis nine and it made perfect sense to me... so did the rest of the book.

Too many folks quench the Spirit. May God bless both of you and your loved ones.
