They're called the American Crocodile. They live in Florida and elsewhere.I thought there were just alligators in Florida? I could be wrong.
That reminds me of Reggie the alligator. Someone dumped him in a lake near Los Angeles. There was a huge effort to try to catch him but he was elusive...even calling in alligator wranglers. Reggie became a celebrity here.
Finally Reggie was caught and put into the Los Angeles Zoo. He was only there a couple of days before he escaped and was found walking in the employees' parking lot!!!
He got a reinforced area at the zoo and he's still there....now 8 feet long.
This video is very interesting....one of the men who let Reggie loose in the lake is interviewed. Kind of funny when the police were circling his home in a helicopter over the release of Reggie.

It's irresponsible to release Alligators into those type waterways.
Florida is a drop site for large snakes now. People who can't handle their Anaconda they purchased when it was a baby, those who acquired through black market Reticulated Pythons,Rock Pythons, Bermese Pythons, think letting them lose in the warm climate of Florida is safe and for their own good.
But they're not an indigenous species. Now their numbers are proliferating. And they're putting at risk the Crocodile and the Alligator population. And of course they're a threat to people given how large some can get .
