What is the real meaning of a Christian? A Christian is a person with Christ in them. Isn't that simple, it we just simply see what it is that makes believers Christian's it takes alot of pressure off an individual to have to perform. They don't really have to go around acting saved persay, all they need is to have Christ in them and they are a Christian.
I use the word perform because of the way I felt I needed to act at one time in my walk with the Lord. Granted I felt like I was being pushed or compelled to do what I did in ministry and life and had to perform. But even before that I felt like there was a certain way I needed to act because I was a Christian now and this is the way Christian's were to act.
Now that has alot of good attached to it, I needed lifestyle changes we all do, but the way you act is not what makes you a Christian thank God. If I was judged based on actions being criteria for being a Christian I would have missed it by a long shot. I had the religious jargon down but that didn't make me a Christian. I went to church alot, I preached alot and did what I thought made me a Christian.
Until one day the Lord began to show me what a Christian is. It was that simple, a person with Christ in them was what made them not only saved but is what made them a Christian. It was from that time or right around the same time the I began to see there were many things like that in scripture that seemed simple.
What makes the word of God simple to understand is the Holyspirit. When the Holyspirit reveals something to you it is like you already knew but now you know. That is what makes it simple, the light shining on it. It really isn't simple until that happens, but when revelation comes on anything it is like "I knew that" but you really didn't know that, at least not by the Spirit until now. Another word on revelation; once revelation starts, once the Holyspirit begins opening up to you what it is he is teaching you it does not stop. It may come in after long periods of time but he does not stop. I like to use the word elusive, where Jesus said "I will never leave you nor forsake you," the Holyspirit can be more elusive. Elusive meaning sometimes you can feel him and sometimes you can't. You ever have those moments where you feel like the Old Testament saint that said he could "run through a troop, and had leaped over a wall." Then the times the Holyspirit is just nowhere to be found, at least that's the way you feel. The Holyspirit does not leave you but he is in the soul of man and can feel elusive at times.
30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. - 2 Samuel 22:30.
My personal feeling for that is; when the Holyspirit gets a believer where he wants them he makes full use of it. Revelation flows like a river, it may be a little here and a little there. How he does it may differ in believers but what he is doing is the same and the outcome if you will is the same. I have seen some have a revelation of Christ in them instantly and some it happens gradually. Always keep in mind the final outcome of Holyspirit knowledge, Holyspirit revelation, Holyspirit teaching and understanding will be of the Christ in you the hope of glory. Bless you.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: - Galatians 1:15-16.
