Lasers could sweep the sky or land and incinerate everything they hit, planes, drones, vehicles and troops.
Would not even need to vaporize a target, just get it so hot it is no longer able to function.
Or punch a hole through it, destroying it from the inside.
Perhaps defense against a laser could involve reflecting the beam away, if that could work.

They have had this technology for decades already... cities will lay in ruin.

Thing about lasers, they are cheap to shoot, they travel at the speed of light. AI systems could direct the Laser beams to instantly fry thousands of targets in just a few minutes. They can fire until the system runs out of electrical power.

At very long distances, the beam will lose intensity.
