2 Timothy 2
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

I've seen a few posts that show me some think that these vessels to honor and dishonor will apply to the redeemed in our resurrection.

I believe the good works here are the same good works named in Ephesian 2,

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

That is, good works done in this life. Purge yourself from these, wood and earth, what are these?

1 Corinthians 3
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Stop building with the wrong things . . . build with the right things . . . get rid of the wrong things from your toolbox, division and envy, and pride and all the rest of the lusts of the flesh.

Make yourself the living sacrifice, and become fit for the Master's use. Here. Now. In this life.

But this does not teach that the child of God is saved unto dishonor. We can know this also.

1 Corinthians 4
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Your thoughts?

Much love!

one can appreciate your frustration, but you speak of division as though its evil. do you understand what sanctification is?

sanctified is something the born again are. they are not a friendly mix of those who corrupt the message in the Word. so there is a division despite your desire for peace in the worldly fashion. he who has the power has the power to no only offer peace but keep it. in the case of the world and its views the world has the power. in the case of the Lord God, God has the power. to be united with world views and beliefs one must compromise, Jesus came to offer peace that is with God through God's terms because He has the power to offer and keep it. Jesus did not offer world peace.

so, the corrupter and haters of the Truth of God will contend with the doctrine of Christ till Kingdom come, and they will do it in the church and call themselves believers to you.

Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Mat 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Mat 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

so as long as churches compromise for peace with world views, there will be another church formed do to the frustration with that. I think some one posted there is 1001 Christian denominations, just how do you think that happens?

That is so true!

1 Corinthians 11
18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 For there must be also heresies (divisions) among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

so there is a division despite your desire for peace in the worldly fashion.
But perhaps you misunderstand me. There is no peace in a worldly fashion, not real peace.

I think this forum is based on the concept, let both grow together . . .

Much love!

for some one who has many postings here you talk like you're completely unaware of what gets said here. are you ignorant of that, or just putting it on thick. I don't have to get the waders out do I?

I'm unaware of what you are saying here. Could you be more specific? What do you feel like you are wading through? Do you not see a mixture of people posting?

Is there any Scriptural backing for the thoughts in this one sentence ?

Romans 12
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2 Timothy 2
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

1 Corinthians 3
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Romans 12 tells us to present ourselves a living sacrifice.
2 Timothy 2 tells us that if we purge ourselves, we will be fit for the Master's use.
1 Corinthians 3 tells us that we ARE building, and that these works will be tested in fire, that which remains yielding reward.
1 Corinthians 4 tells us that Jesus will judge when He comes, and each will have praise from God. Not dishonor.
And of course in Hebrews, It's appointed to man once to die, and then the judgment.

The works we do for which we will be judged are in this life. So in this life, we sacrifice ourselves to God, getting rid of what holds us back, the sins and weights, and we build with the right things. What isn't burnt remains our reward. God tells us He will give praise to all.

And . . . we were created for His pleasure. He wants us. That's the whole point.

Much love!

COOL!

(later if 'convenient', the references posts without the text do not render on all of our screens, especially on cell phones.... if the short texts of the Bible WITH the references could be typed/printed/posted out like some were, that would be very helpful. thanks ! )
