We are to Know the Signs of the Last Days and not Live in Darkness and Ignorance!! ==But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. God did not choose us to suffer his anger but to possess salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10who died for us in order that we might live together with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes. 11And so encourage one another and help one another. 1 Thess. 5===Will you meet Jesus as your Lord and Savior OR as your final Judge??

It is never a good idea to focus on one thing to the exclusion of other things. You already have a few threads on end time events.

What would you choose to "focus" on if you really knew that Jesus might return today???

Interesting point..BUT, as @Enoch111 mentioned...
It does us no good in living blinkered, on just one aspect.
Remember the angels said to them in Acts -" Why stand thou starting into heaven..." He is coming back, but- "why stand staring into heaven?" We must be about our Fathers business...He will return looking for fruit = increase of the 'talents' that He entrusted us with, be it 1, 5 or 10, ...

Our time here on earth is better spent getting to know Him, rather than just gazing up for him. That teaches us nothing about Himself.

Bless you...Helen

Did you know that even those of us who will face Christ as our Saviour will still stand before him as our final Judge? It has a completely different meaning for those who are not in Christ, but we still must stand before the judgment seat.
So...not quite an AS/OR sort of a thing as you suggest...:D

Interesting. The OP is putting out an admonition that those in Christ are to know the signs of the last days and not live in darkness and ignorance. However, that person adhere's to the pre-trib rapture theory from men which instead teaches that Jesus can come at 'any time', and just to be ready, which does not involve knowing or watching the signs of the last days.

The pre-trib rapture doctrine of men preaches 'imminence', i.e., the idea that Jesus can come and rapture the Church at any time. That's also why that doctrine is also nicknamed the 'Any Moment' doctrine.

The pre-trib rapture doctrine takes the idea of God's wrath which Apostle Paul in 1 Thess.5 said we are not appointed to, and wrongly applies that time of wrath to the time of great tribulation our Lord Jesus foretold of.

However, Paul was actually pointing to the time of the 7th Vial with that time of God's wrath, which is upon the wicked on the last day of this world, which is the timing of that 1 Thess.5 "sudden destruction" upon them he spoke of. And that is when that "day of the Lord" will come "as a thief in the night."

Instead, the pre-trib rapture doctrine of men tries to move that "day of the Lord" to the start of the great tribulation in order to try and align their pre-trib rapture with it.

In essence, Apostle Paul 1 Thessalonians 5 was pulling from the Old Testament prophets about the last day of this present world when God will bring a destruction upon this earth and punish the wicked on earth. Paul gave us a major end time sign along with it, the "Peace and safety" that the wicked and deceived will be saying when the "sudden destruction" comes upon them. That shows the very end of this world is going to be a time of world peace, howbeit a fake world peace by Antichrist.

But leave it to those on the false pre-trib rapture doctrine of man to try and turn that 1 Thess.5 chapter into a pre-trib rapture event which Apostle Paul never mentioned anywhere in that chapter (nor in any of his Epistles for that matter).

Matt 24:42-47
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
KJV

Mark 13:34-37
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
KJV

The tribulation principle is indeed with us, while the Lord Jesus has gloriously overcome the world; though the great tribulation (Matthew 24) is a unique, future event that seems to involve not the church, but tribulation saints.

The Church IS the saints.
There is only one people of God. John 17:20-23, Romans 2:10-11, +
The people seen on earth; Daniel 7:25 and Revelation 13:7, are all the faithful Christians, proved by Revelation 12:6-17 where they become 2 groups - one taken to a place of safety and the other remains in the holy Land.

Thinking there will be converts during the reign of the Anti-Christ, is refuted by Revelation 13:9
