It's always been because of Christ though. He was slain before the foundation of the world was laid.
Only believers can live righteously would be a better way to state things.
Please check post #15 where I said plainly ...
ALL of this has to with BACs (born-again Christians).

I understand this is what your focus is on.

We live righteously because of Christ.

Righteousness is its most pure and complete form and essence is in God alone! Through Jesus' blood He imputes righteousness in the believer (instantaneous) and through the Word and power of the Holy Ghost the believer is sanctified (progressively) and then our love is perfected daily and we begin to not willfully sin and through the continuing work of the Word and the Spirit we live holy (relative) and when Christ returns and we are resurrected we shall be completely holy and righteous and entirely sanctified!
Sanctification is instantaneous, progressive and entire!

1 John 3 says ... those who are righteous (in God's eyes) will practice righteousness!
IMO, there are very few who were elected before the foundation of the world.
Hope I'm wrong!

If there was an election prior to the foundation of the world - it doesn't matter how one acts does it? Sort of throws your doctrine right back in your face.

On the other hand, it doesn't say anything, anywhere about being good enough to get into heaven, in fact, we all fall short and that's why there is the Cross and Christ, right? Is it a license to sin? NO! We do practice righteousness - but not man's righteousness, we have the righteousness of Christ and we practice living in that righteousness, we fall, we get back up. We say something stupid, we repent, we move on, we're being sanctified.

We all have His Holy Spirit dwelling in us, convicting us and leading us, this is what sets us apart.

How deep shall we look into it? Shall we look at Romans 3:10 or Isa 64:6?

I'm made righteous by the blood of Christ.... Nothing more. I can't do anything to make myself righteous other than point to him.

Okay, but I'm showing verses which say ...
the truly righteous BAC will be practicing righteousness.

And, the reverse is true ...
the BAC who is not practicing righteousness is not righteous.

All of which teach against the doctrine of OSAS, which is from the very pits hell.
BTW, so is cessationism, which is even more important.

Not every person who says ,"Lord, Lord" will be saved, I think we have all read this passage.
