Website exploding in the Middle East

Hi,

I have a website dedicated to Christ, (www.heavenandfreedom.com) just checked the stats on my website again, hits are exploding in the middle east, it is going viral! I am not sure what is going on but I have gotten nearly 100 hits from Iraq in the last week, it now has 10 hits from Saudi Arabia, 22 hits from Israel, 6 hits from Lebanon, 14 hits from Jordan, 30 hits from the United Arab Emirates (probably Dubai) 5 hits from Oman, 5 hits from the Palestinian Territories (the west bank and gaza strip), also 68 hits from Pakistan! All of these are nations hostile to the gospel! Iran is stable at 35 hits this year (it had nearly 50 hits in the last few years), there is currently an internet blackout in Iran due to the war so It makes sense that there have been no hits recently.

There are now only a handful of nations with no hits, such as Afghanistan and North Korea and some remote areas of Africa. It is actually a blessing that there are no hits from North Korea as the secret police there would strictly censor internet connections, just looking at my website in North Korea might mean prison or the death penalty.

I am not sure what is going on, I sent the link to my website off to about 10 christian churches in Pakistan about 1 month ago, hits have been exploding all over the middle east ever since, I think those churches may have had connections in other middle eastern countries and it is now going around!

I have turned my website loose on the internet and now it is going around, finding it's way into some amazing places, it now has 7 hits from the Congo, the tropical rainforest nation in Africa, also 2 hits from Mali, the remote nation in the Sahara Desert. Also 8 hits from Trinidad and Tobago, the tropical island in the Caribbean, also 2 hits from Togo, the tiny nation in Africa! Also 1 hit from Mozambique, the poorest country in the world! Also 1 hit from Fiji, the island paradise in the south pacfic!

A good number of the hits are bots but many are not, I can tell what web browser these people are using and many thousands are using Google Chrome, those have to be people and not bots. Also I have over 4,000 hits from Apple iPhones, those are also people and not bots.

You were not aware that software (bots) can actually use Google Chrome and Apple iPhones?

The whole point of using bots is to make it appear like it's a real person is visiting a website.

When one wants to increase their website traffic and hire a company to help them achieve that, the company uses bots to make it look like thousands of new visitors are visiting the site and stats will show all different type of browsers being used as well as Android and Apple smart phones being used as well.

If real people were visiting many of them would have questions and prayer requests so your email form on your website would be lighting up if you had one or if you posted your email address so visitors could contact you with questions and prayer requests

Some of these folks would be trying to scam you out of money claiming to be working with children. In most third world countries there are scammers that make money this way and it makes it very hard to try to help people in their places as it's very hard to tell who is a scammer and who is actually trying to help the children

What is the purpose of bots visiting websites that they are not hired to visit? I'm at another forum and they have been besieged by bots which sometimes hinders regular members from accessing the forum.

Collecting information. They could be bots from search engines that crawl the web archiving web pages that have had new information added (updated by the website owner) and in other cases bots are seeking websites to compromise with malware so when people visit those sites they get malware on their computer so the bots can start following those people.

There's all kinds of reasons why software (bots) is out doing stuff.

Probably the biggest reason is for marketing purposes which is why they want to put malware on websites that get transferred to website visitors to they can see what things each visitor is interested in so that data can be sold to marketing companies who in turn will target each visitor with advertising for the things they are interested in. This is a big money maker if done on a large scale.
