It says Christ is an example. What does that mean for us Christians?
It means just that Robert, using Christ as the example of excellence and glory to his Father.

We are to do really two things:

First, we are to persevere under fire without retaliation, and without any attempt of evasion, even upon death. As Christ laid his life down for us, we are to lay our lives down for others, and try to protect them where possible, even to the point of our own death. This point is deduced from this scripture.

Secondly, and more directly, we are to exemplify him, Christ, by using him as our example of his servanthood and his duty to his Father, as the Father is also ours, in Christ.

We are obedient and believe in Christ therefore we should demonstrate as humanly possible his life, his acceptable and commendable life according to his Father, up to and including our own physical death.

As 1 Peter 2: 20 suggests, if you get a beating or are punished for doing good (from God's perspective not as the world sees it) and endure it, without retaliation and revenge, and without obvious uncontested sin, this is true spiritual credit and highly commendable to God.

His Son suffered and sacrificed his still 'young' physical life for this holy duty of servanthood, for all of us. Amen

He is our example, indeed. Although it would be impossible to be exactly as him, without sin creeping in at times as we journey on this holy road to salvation.

Bless you,
