The Apostle Paul explains faith in Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV), “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon defines the Greek word for “substance” as a firm foundation or assurance. So faith gives us the assurance that God will always keep His promises and that the Bible is always true.

Evidence” is “a proof, that by which a thing is proved or tested” as defined again by Thayer’s.

So, our faith in God is the assurance and the proof that what God has said, He will do – even though we cannot see how things will work out.

How do we increase our faith? By developing a relationship with the God of the Bible. First we need to learn about what the Bible declares are the four attributes of God.

Justice is a foundation of God’s character. Psalm 89:14 (ESV), “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.”

Love is one of God’s attributes. 1 John 4:16 (NKJV), “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” Everything God does is always the most loving and best action.

Wisdom is another attribute of God. Psalm 104:24 (NKJV), “O LORD, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all…”

All Power belongs to God. Daniel 2:20 (NASB20), “Daniel said, ‘May the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him.” Jeremiah 51:15 (NKJV), “He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.”

All of God’s attributes work in harmony together in every aspect of His being, His purposes, His plans, and His promises. As we see evidences of His work in our lives through answered prayer, providences, and the fulfillment of His Bible promises and prophecies, our faith becomes anchored in Him.

I think faith and trust are the same thing.

I believe faith is a deeply personal experience that can have different meanings for different people. For me, faith is about trusting in something greater than myself and finding meaning and purpose in life.

Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the words of Christ - Romans 10:17

i see that you have come around to Hebrews ch11 again - this is very Good since the very subject matter is apropos

Do you hear the words of the Holy Spirit who says: By faith Enoch was taken up so that he did not see death:
“He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.

Hello to you,

Hebrews 11

The Meaning of Faith

11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the men of old received divine approval. 3 By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear.

The writer of hebrews after having talking about the Messiahs Sacrifice One For all, with encouragement to not shrink back but to persevere through the trials and situations they were going through in which they was a lot of confusion about the Lord, which the writer of the Hebrews letter to a Jewish audience in which he lays out the Superiority of the Messiah, (Hebrews 10;Hebrews)

It takes faith to believe that Jesus Christ had come back and was raised up from the Father by the Spirit (Romans 8:11), and Paul speaks many sayings about the Spirit, and the Flesh.

From my understanding I would say Paul is not writing here; it was a writer that is unknown; but the writer states in the very first verse it that.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Having faith is the assurance of things that are hoped for, the conviction of things not see. Faith in the material sense is saying that "My grandson is looking and waiting out the window for his mom, she said she would be in 10 minutes." Now this grandson is waiting in assurance that his mom will be back, and the hope of it is is because she had said she would be back in 10 minutes. Once see is back, they will be glad to see each other, and they will go on abut their lives.

Faith in the heavenly sense, is to believe and have faith trusting in God, to be with you in your life, and that you have an active relationship with him, and to also read and check out the scripture, is to have hope in the things that are promised which are not seen.

Such as are you someone who believe that Jesus Christ, is the one whom sends the Holy Spirit from the Father, and that the Holy Spirit of God, is spoken of to be with-in you and reside in you. (John 14:16; John 15:26 ; Galatians 5, Romans 7-8;12, 2 Corinthians 13:14; James 3-4)

There are many people whom are named off here in this book of Hebrews whom all had faith in the promises that they had not seen; and eventually after the the death, burial, and resurrection and the victory of Christ Jesus; all were able to inherit what they were promised by being able to join into the Kingdom of The Heavenly Jerusalem, which the Lord Jesus Christ, is the Kings and head of (John 19:20; Revelation 1:5; Matthew 28:18, Acts 10:36, Revelation 21-22).

Faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6) - that is something you can have assurance of, and that if you seek him out diligently he will reward those who do such things. Is that something you believe, and have hope for, is there evidences that proves such? Would that be being more of the spirit, and less of the flesh? I would suggest that God rewards and gives perfect gifts, that comes from the Father of lights (James 1:16-17), therefore the spirit can be given more to those who ask of the Father, through the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 11:13;Matthew 6:5-15).

The writer goes on to say in verse 2;

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:2 For by it the men of old received divine approval.

The writer he is writing about everyone since the dawn of Adam and even, starting with Abel, going on all the way to Giden, Samson, David, with some others (Hebrews 11:4-40). They were approved, having been promised of things which they never did receive while here on earth, but after the death, burial, and resurrection did receive then having been becoming part of the first resurrection, in which they would be part of the Heavenly Kingdom of Jerusalem which is where the King of Kings resides, with the Father and they were able to enter in so after the victory of Christ over all things.
Hebrews 11: 3 By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear.

The writer states before going on in telling of that which pleases God, which is faith (Hebrews 11:6) and the Father will reward those who are having faith and seek him out diligently.

By faith - by believing - trusting in God because of all the evidences of things which have never been witnessed by us. we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that haw tis seen was made out of things which do not appear.

I suppose this is taking about in how the Word of God was in the beginning with God, as John had mentioned in John 1:1-3;14; and the writer of Hebrews made mentioned in the very start of his letter, in Hebrews 1:1-3. The writer is expressing though we have never seen the Word of God created the world; but because of faith - we believe it it is so, that things that are material, made of thing which do not appear.

There is an argument out there whether or not God created things using material, or if God had spoken and thus things were created because of the Word of God; creating what was spoke into existence; whatever you choose it up to you. Perhaps God did not use anything, or perhaps he did; and you can say that is why the Big Bang happened if you wanted to, people argue over these things, best to not argue.

My view is that perhaps when God spoke the Word had created, and that is why in the Bible it interesting to note the uniqueness of the Lord Jesus Christ, who once was residing beside God; came down willingly to give up his life; to redeem the world back to the Father. By the use of the body which had become sin; and died - because of the Lord suffering the world of Sin that had fallen upon him; during his journey to having died on the cross. Jesus, had the Word of God with-in him; that then went down to Sheol; because the resurrection had not happened to the only begotten son which Yeshua would go on to show himself to many people before having ascending up to the sky - witnessed by those standing around him - and Jesus sits at the right hand of God - until he puts all things underneath his feet.

Faith, while faith comes by hearing and reading the Bible; as it is for the most part I suggest the 66 cannon are fair enough to give a good reading; and studying and that will help and fortify yourself and those who are looking to build a solid foundation in which the Lord Jesus Christ had laid out, with the use of also his Apostles, and all of the New Testament.

Faith is something that seems to be active in which someone hopes for - but they are yet to be unseen but the promises are from the Son of God, and which we can find rest and comfort for the soul.

You gave the Biblical definition RR, a synonym is simply belief, which means exactly the same thing.
