I like snacking on potato chips. So to save money I bought a "Party Size" bag of Lays potato chips. I opened it and it was all broken pieces from the bottom of the barrel. So I've been eating crumbs for the last week, LOL. Luck of the draw I suppose. What can I say? I'm lucky that way. :dusted:

It could be a very rainy day (like today in NZ) It may be miserable outside...You have the heater, pump or fire going and you are about to make something that you would consider, "comfort food" what would that look like?

Here's one of my favorite comfort foods...Boil up. It has brisket, bacon bone or pork. Watercress, dough boys (dumplings) this pic has pumpkin. (not my creation)

Some have potatos and kumi-kumi or marrow. All these ingredients are boiled up to gether. The secret is the timing of each item being added. The dumplings is the last thing to go in...I love eating this on a cold, wet or windy/rainy day. Mostly for winter daze but I can eat it anytime...:)

Spring rolls, Eclairs.

I'm craving cheese. So sometimes I like Cheetos snack food. But lately I realized it's just the cheese I crave so I go for real cheese. Sometimes I'll buy lasagna from the store and added extra cheese onto it. It's so good.

I like fish and chips made of halibut served with tartar sauce. Lobster in garlic butter and king crab in garlic butter. And I'll eat clams and dungeness crab with this sauce my mom used to serve. Seafood is super great!

Believe it or not I picked up some really good food from the store this week and have been eating like a king. But today I had some break thrus in my projects and wanted some comfort food so, and this is what is unbelievable, it's pork ramen. I just love the broth.

I'd love to try some comfort food from the south like Grits or biscuits and gravy, gumbo. That kind of thing....:Broadly:
When I worked at the airport area we used to get biscuits and gravy, breakfast style. Super good!

what do they taste like @devin553344?
It tastes super good, kinda like country fried chicken or pork with gravy only better. We also had a Denny's restaurant that served it and when my grandmother was alive we would get it there too. The breakfast version is served with a sausage patty and scrambled eggs. Sometimes they put bacon pieces into it.

Oh yes! I just learned how to make this last year. So good!

Much love!
You're doing better than me: I don't know how to make the gravy myself. Never made it just had it at restaurants. Best breakfast I've had. We used to have a Denny's where they would serve breakfast 24 hours a day. It closed down not too long ago though. Just before the pandemic for some reason.

Here's my recipe, simple as can be.

Fry up a pound of Jimmy Dean Regular Sausage into seared crumbles.

Separately, whisk 3 tablespoons of flour into 2 cups of milk. You can drain the sausage for a lighter gravy, or leave it for a darker gravy. Pour the milk over the sausage, add salt pepper to taste, stir continuously until boiling, and allow to stand a few minutes, and pour over freshly baked Trader Joe's Buttermilk Bisquits.

I've made turkey dinners with gravy, but didn't know you use milk for biscuits and gravy. Thanks!
