I note several poignant details: The bruises on His face, hands, and feet; the purple robe of royalty, the discarded cross behind him.I think it looks demonic. I suspect that its creator was envisioning the Mexican "Day of the Dead" celebration when he made it.

What is your opinion of this statue of Jesus that I found in a Catholic Church in a small, Mexican, town?
Keep in mind the difference in the symbol of the cross compared to the Catholic Crucifix. In Catholicism, Christ is crucified again and again in every mass and the focus is on his sacrifice. This is why Christ remains on the cross, crucified; we are to eternally feel guilty for the sacrifice that needed to be made due to our depravity.I think it looks demonic.
I'm curious as to why you associate this portrayal of Christ with Dia de los muertos?
I've heard that demons can attach themselves to places and things. Is that why you pray over every new or old thing that comes into my home?I pray over every new or old thing that comes into my home.
Yes, I pray over everything that enters my home. Particularly things that are given to me. One time, a lady gave me an interesting vase. I didn't sleep that night because I sensed something was in the house. I dreamed of that vase. Then I woke up in the night and went down the passage; I sensed something was there. I turned the light on and the vase was sitting in the passage. I prayed over it, thinking I would get rid of it the next morning if I still sensed a presence. The next morning the presence was gone. It's been fine ever since...I've heard that demons can attach themselves to places and things. Is that why you pray over every new or old thing that comes into my home?
This statue is not inspired by Día de los Muertos. It comes from a long Spanish Catholic Holy Week tradition depicting Jesus during His Passion, commonly called Jesús Nazareno.
It predates modern Day of the Dead imagery by centuries and is meant to emphasize Isaiah 53, Christ’s suffering and humility, not death worship or occult themes.
If you're asking me personally? I wouldn't have a piece like that in my house. I pray over every new or old thing that comes into my home.

Nah. Our son took us to a Mexican restaurant that had a Dia de los muertos theme. Very different vibe; more like an uneasy mocking of Death. From this one, I get a vibe of Christ's suffering, which aligns with how Catholics see the Crucifixion. In particular, I found the bruising of His face, hands, and feet to be the focus.Because it is intertwined in Mexican culture and Mexican Catholicism. Now I'm not claiming this was on the creator's mind, only speculating.
@RepentingChristian I receive revelation from the lord in various ways. Nothing is revealed unless the Lord wants me to know something for whatever reason. I am not the boss of the Holy Spirit. He is the boss of me.Do you receive spiritual information about me and others on this forum?

Not that I'd want to have this one in my living room.
