Popcorn - By itself healthy. We Americans, though, can sure turn healthy things unhealthy! I have often tasted popcorn wondering what unhealthy additions were added.

My husband loved popcorn. Then a husk lodged in the concave part of his bowel. It infected the tissue and the result was a near baseball size abscess. It was a miracle it didn't rupture.

It resulted in bowel surgery and a colostomy bag while the resection healed. He's fine now though missing a portion of his bowel.

Doctors said older people are at risk when eating popcorn. Digestion issues,etc... and the husks are always a risk but not so much so in you get people's digestive system.

We haven't eaten popcorn in 5 years.

Wow, that was terrible what happened to your husband! Glad he's ok.

I never would have imagined those tiny husks that sometimes cling to your tongue when eating popcorn could infect and almost kill you.

When he went to the ER they later said if he'd have taken pain pills and gone to sleep again that night he'd have died from Sepsis. Because the abscess was that close to rupture.

I shared this so others who are older especially may consider the risks. Especially if they have the same symptoms.

Prolonged constipation. Stabbing pains, sensitive to the touch on the skin of the lower belly, because the bowels are just below that. Fever, nausea.
