I am curious what each person's perspective is on this.
While it's true that the Bible says a lot about the body of Jesus being sacrificed, I believe we should dig a little deeper to fully grasp what happened.
First, I would like to discuss the human body. The human body itself, as far as sin is concerned, is inert because it is not the moral agent of sin or sinlessness. In order for sin to occur, there must first be a will, desire, and action. Therefore, the body itself is an instrument of sin or sinlessness, but not the sinner anymore than a weapon is the criminal. So the source of sin or sinlessness comes from within from the soul and spirit itself.
Following this line of reasoning, was it just an inert human body that became the perfect sin sacrifice? If that were the case, then the sacrifice of Jesus would be identical to anyone else's sacrifice and it only seems to cheapen what occurred on the cross.
Jesus' sinless soul was sacrificed because he's a man, not the immortal soul of God.
Isaiah 53
10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
