[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]25 It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! [/background]

Here we read that a Disciple of Christ is one who is like Christ who will be rejected by mainstream everyone. Not only does it include knowing the elementary principals of christ and practising everything that Christ taught but it also comes with the Power of the Spirit of God bearing witness of the disciple.

Rach, I mean that scripture says the catholics have the right idea and are more scriptural than protestants in their organization. I don't think they are THE church, but they have the right idea. Scripture is VERY clear that only some have talents to lead, that they are appointed by God, and some are to follow. Paul shows us that the leaders of the Church are to lead the people to works of service and through those works the people and the church grow to maturity spiritually. That maturity is as mature, complete, large, potent as Christs.

It says not less in any way. Not only are protestants scattered but they teach that is not possible....

Strat, you are the only one here trying to be more holy than others. But you are a bald faced liar, instigator, and manipulator. Your ONLY contribution is to make divisions and factions. According to paul you are driven by the flesh as that is fruit of the flesh....

Actually, I won't say that is strictly true. I know of several Protestant Churches where they are very clear on leaders; what they are to do and how they are to lead, and also those who follow; what they are to do, offer and how they fit in with 'the body'. In fact I would say that in many, many Protestant denominations that that kind of honest, structured and biblical leadership is 'making a comeback'.
As far as 'they teach that it is not possible', I'm still not sure what exactly you're talking about...sorry!
But as far as what I believe and those I listen to and fellowship with, we believe that all is possible with God. We believe that whole heartedly....that God can and does make anything and everything happen. But as for everyday life, we believe the bible and live according to it and the Spirit. As it's God's word, it won't, in any way, contradict what God does, says or causes to happen to 'the body'. So biblical faithfulness and the belief that God makes 'anything' possible are, in fact, compatible.

Unfortunately most who claim they believe in Christ have a false understanding of who He is and what he will accept as worship.

1 Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste, Distorts its surface And scatters abroad its inhabitants.
2 And it shall be: As with the people, so with the priest; As with the servant, so with his master; As with the maid, so with her mistress; As with the buyer, so with the seller; As with the lender, so with the borrower; As with the creditor, so with the debtor.
3 The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the Lord has spoken this word.
4 The earth mourns and fades away, The world languishes and fades away; The haughty people of the earth languish.
5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men are left.

The Lord is angry at the people who claim to be His because of all the lies that they believe in His name.

30 "Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them: 'The Lord will roar from on high, And utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, Against all the inhabitants of the earth.
31 A noise will come to the ends of the earth-- For the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,' says the Lord."
32 Thus says the Lord of hosts: "Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth.
33 And at that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground.
34 "Wail, shepherds, and cry! Roll about in the ashes, You leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled; You shall fall like a precious vessel.
35 And the shepherds will have no way to flee, Nor the leaders of the flock to escape.
36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard. For the Lord has plundered their pasture,
37 And the peaceful dwellings are cut down Because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty.
11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 For the day of the Lord of hosts Shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up-- And it shall be brought low--
13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 Upon all the high mountains, And upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 Upon every high tower, And upon every fortified wall;
16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish, And upon all the beautiful sloops.
17 The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; The Lord alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the idols He shall utterly abolish.
19 They shall go into the holes of the rocks, And into the caves of the earth, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
20 In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver And his idols of gold, Which they made, each for himself to worship, To the moles and bats,
21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, And into the crags of the rugged rocks, From the terror of the Lord And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
22 Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?

A disciple is following Christ and striving every minute for Christ Likeness.

nothing else is as important to the disciple than his master.

A disciple is a person who has responded to the call of Christ and has left all to follow Him, but has yet, a long way to go. A disciple has still to find out what is in his heart, and how weak and unfaithful he can be. He is not yet in union with Christ.

If he does not turn from the measure of Light within, he will be guided along the path and taught to pray the Lord`s Prayer, which is the prayer for entire sanctification/maturity/holiness, God`s will for us, and unless we are there, we are outside of the ark, though in favour if we are heading that way and not quenching the Light.

Praying for His kingdom to come withinin him.

Praying for His will to be done on earth (within him) as it is done perfectly in heaven (wherever the Lord reigns)

Asking for forgiveness daily as he us still sinning and therefore outside of the kingdom, knowing that he is not to be a hypocrite in holding others sins against them.

Being delivered from evil - the casting out of demons.

If, one day, the man continues on this path without following the majority who turn away from this great work through unbelief, he will come to the full stature and unity with the divine and experience his own Pentecost and become an apostle and be then a sent one fully equippped to do the work of the Father.

Sounds like a real struggle but encourage them to never give up. Keep asking God for His strength and Spirit, daily. the Lord will not leave them nor forsake them.

Hebrews 13
10 ------- For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Good posts!!! What is usually forgotten in the measure of a disciple is the corporate reality of the body of Christ. God has divided up the gifts and abilities among the body so that we would learn to become one. The Christian life is meant to be lived together in a oneness that brings God glory. We must avoid the private seeking of a personal nirvana...this is not the purpose of the grace and God's gifting. All the gifts we have received are for the brethren to be shared together. God is a Father and His people are a family. Until the world sees the family of God as it should be....the church has not yet come to any form of maturity. What is ironic is that as we lay down our lives for the brethren...the trials we once found so difficult become easy and personal growth is experienced. We are members one of another and instruments in the big orchestra. No amount of personal fiddling can produce the harmony and melody of the orchestral music that we are to make before God. This is what pleases the Father...that we learn to listen as well as play.

You have added a new phrase...just what is a private nirvana ?

The word literally means "blown out" (as in a candle) and refers, in the Buddhist context, to the imperturbable stillness of mind after the fires of desire, aversion, and delusion have been finally extinguished.

A disciple of Christ Loves the Lord with all their heart (foundation) all their mind. (thought) and all their might (Movement)

Amen Son Of Man

A disciple followes the Lord where ever he leads. He is Like the wind no one knows where he came from and no one knows where he is going.

These are Disciples.

Revelation 14
4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

I tell you truly that who ever God has forgiven is a virgin not defiled by women.

Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

disciples here is the word...

G3101
μαθητής
mathētēs
math-ay-tes'
From G3129; a learner, that is, pupil: - disciple.

students, pupils and we are such when we diligently study and live by God's word...

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
