Why A Kiss?

I always wondered why did Judas betray Jesus with a kiss? Was it to show how important He was or something? I mean, usually kisses are designed to show somebody that you love them so I always sort of found that a bit odd.

It was the way he and the Pharisees agreed on to identify Jesus from the others. Also, it was the height of hypocrisy, for sure! The kiss was a normal greeting.

Proverbs 27:6 say's it all...

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend;
But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."

Oh yeah that's right, that's how they said hello to each other.

Yeah they did. Would seem weird in this day to do that but, the Word does say to greet one another with a holy kiss...

I'm not a touchy feely person. XD It would seem even more weird to betray somebody like that to me because like I said before, today we know it as a mean's of affection.
