Why do you think non believers celebrate Easter and Christmas when you know full well they don't believe in Jesus or the whole Christian thing?

Christmas or (X-Mass/ Holiday season) Is when the most influx of money comes to retailers. Whole product lines are held to be released near this day, even computer games in hopes to be bought up during this season. So, its not really anything to do with religion, but a time for retailers and production to make money.

Easter has been disputed anyway by some Christians. A whole lot of people don't even bother with Easter. It's a holiday that has just stuck for no apparent reason. Same with Halloween, and Ground Hogs Day. There is really no need for any Non-Christian to celebrate these days, but they do, because of it just being tradition. Remember, that kids find and color eggs on this day, and it's another small boom for retailers, as Halloween is.

Many on Easter do go to some church to take part of mass or hear a sermon. They do nothing else Kingdom related the rest of the year.

So the short answer is because of Money these Holidays produce, and it's been in the retail cycle for years, and not going to change. Money is still involved if your a believer or non-believer.

I agree with Brother Mike, Christmas and Easter are just family holidays of gift giving...it doesn't have anything really to do with religion like it once did. Most people don't even say Merry Christmas but rather, Happy Holidays. For most non Christians, Jesus is the very last thing on their minds during that time of year. For most people and especially children, when you mention either of these two holidays, their first thoughts are Santa Clause or the Easter bunny. So the reason these are celebrated is it's to (them) a fun family holiday where everyone can get together and share gifts and it's great fun for the kids also.

Because, they follow the same spirit that causes those who profess faith in Jesus Christ to celebrate Easter and Christmas.

Why do non-believers have their children baptized? They have no intention of bringing them up as Christians. Why donon-believers get married in chrch? While do they get church funerals?

I have had several people tell me that they are going to Heaven because as a child they got Baptized. (Dunked in Water)
Or sprinkled with water. So, it was all good between them and God, though If I were the Judge, (Everyone praise God I am not.) I would have to say they pretty much don't even come close to knowing Jesus as their Lord.

In my opinion, if someone is Lord to you, you take heed to every word they say, and do them. That is just How I am looking at it.

There are so many Templar81 That believes this way, and for me that is not secure enough of a Salvation Package.

I just heard someone say that there are people that Know Jesus as Savior, but do not know him as Lord. Not sure what to make of that statement.

Yes! that is an interesting one. Perhaps they believe in jesus and that he died for them but don't ever read the bible and really get to know him or pay attention to his words.

Honestly, why wouldnt they ?

Besides it being more of a commercial thing for 99% of everyone alive, if you sit down and PROVE TO YOURSELF the ORIGINS of what seems to be a biblical practice ... you will find more ishtar/eostre/ashtarte in the spring holiday and you will find more mithras and sol invictus in the winter holiday.

New agers and people who hold fast to ancient ways know full well that they have more of a "right" to these days than anyone thinking they came out of scripture.

EDIT:

Jer. 16:19
O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.

Its very annoying when these Baptism parties come to my church. The church I go to now is in a backwater and has the occaisional baptism. Basically what happens is you arrive at church to find a load of people in their best suits who take all the service book and hymnals, they don't even pretend to read the prayersor sing the hymns (most of the time they just laught and joke with their friends), the don't put any money in the collection and they don't want to have anything to do with the regular worshippers who they regard as intruders to their baptismal party. Most of them will never set foot in a church again unless it is for a wedding, funeral or anoher baptism. When the ervice finishes you see them all dash out of the church to head for the pub.

The church i used go to, which I visited today has lots of baptisms and does as many as 4 in one servcie. (i know that's not much but I live in one of the least religious countries in the word). It is in a very famous and beautful part of England and has had some bery famous clergy. There are a lot of people who like to have their kids baptized there because they think they are being posh.

Despite this I'm still in favour of infant baptism, but I just wish parents would get them baptised and keep the promises they have made for the infant and start bringing them to churcha nd making great britain a Christian country again. I really do envy you guys in the US, where Christianity is not in danger.

LOL.............. if you listen to some of the cry baby Christians we have here about how America is falling apart, and all the Christians have gone bad................???????????

Still, There is still a strong Christian community in your Country. You just have to look past your denomination. We get thousands of downloads from England off our web site to get the Word for free........... Thousands!!!!!!!! That means more than you think are deep into the Word of God, it's just easy to get tunnel vision if we don't look around and see what God is really doing.

I would stay encouraged........... Getting 4 people saved every week is a pretty good number. Church is not the best place to make the altar call as everyone that goes, is saved. (Or thinks so)

In my own church we run about 4K on a Sunday, and only get about a few to come up after service........... Most our members know more scripture than I do........... pretty humbling. Some that come up are just re-dedications anyway.

So, with the Thousands of downloads from England every week, not counting all the free stuff we send out over there, It would appear that things are more bright than you may realize.

Here is a link if you just want to check out all the free downloads..... there is no sign up or anything. You can also call and request the hard copy's to be sent for free, it cost 60,000 thousands U.S dollars or more a week to send stuff all over the World.

http://www.moorelife.org/freedownloads.php

We are just a small part in what God is doing............. God is doing a lot.

What worries me is that the congregations are aging and there just aren't people ther to take their place. This is mopre or less accross the board although the inlfux of Poles has given the Catholic church a boost and the non-denominationals are doing Ok in some cities, but overall church attendance is pretty grim. There are of course people who turn up at Christmas and Easter and aren't seen the rest of the year.

About What ronniechoate34?????

Faith never mentions, never complains, never judges. Faith Prays and knows that prayer is heard. As it is written, pray for those in authority that we lead a quite and peaceful life. One thing that grates on me most, is doubt, and fear.

Those that doubt and full of unbelief, complain, and cry believing not the scripture, nor believe God actually performs his Word without fail. As it is written, It is impossible for God to lie.

That is what I was talking about Ronniechoate34. Thank God, that we are more than conquers!!! glory......

I see.

I don't mean to sound alarms myself, and I don't mean to sound cowardly or doubtful. However, I've been accused of all three of those things. That's accused, not convicted.

I don't agree that we shouldn't judge. Also what is it exactly that we are not to mention because of our faith? You've lost me here.

Hey, ronniechoate34

Well back to the original question that caused me to respond.

What about it?

I did not have lots of info on what your stance was on Cry baby Christians. So.................I am not sure who accused your or why they might have. I don't even know what for. My statement seemed to spark your interest, So, I responded. It is aggravating in a forum situation when people don't respond.

In the last days, there shall be perilous times. We are closer to that today, than yesterday.

No amount of Prayer will change that, it's already written.

My concern is Christians that seem to freak out at the mere mention of no Rapture. (Oh my gosh!!!! What are we gonna do?? tell me it is not so!!!!)

Then, we have others that constantly look at the bad in the Government. Always so negative. America is this, and it's that. Oh boy, God's Judgment is really going to slam America. Jesus said all things were possible to them that believe, So, I guess I see where there faith is at. WE were told to pray for those in Authority, not freak out. (NO FAITH)

Just currently we have our National day of prayer under fire by a Federal Judge, that see's no reason for it............ Man did that get reported on Christian forums....... OH Boy, Look, look, it's already starting.......... OH NO!!!!!!

What was not reported on Christian web sites is that the Obama Ministration is going to file a appeal against that ruling. That is a good thing, so we over look that one. Where is that post topic??????????

Faith will believe the best and hope the best. Faith receives the answer, and does not speak against that answer.

So, that was the category I was referring to. I am still confused on how your relating yourself to this.

Be blessed Brother!!

I believe that God is going to destroy this country. I also believe that God is going to take care of the people that belong to Him when He decides it's time for justice.

Like I said, I've been accused of sounding fearful, cowardly and doubtful. That's why I responded as I did.

OK Brother, I see where your coming from. You can still be full of faith, knowing that God is going to make a way for you. Psalm 91 comes to mind with 10,000 falling at your side. It would be hard not to be accused of fear mongering with your view of God's Punishment of the United States. It could be just Wording.

I'll admit, I don't know what the End of the United States is going to be. In the end, end, everything gets melted into sludge. Everyone on the planet gets Judged great and small.

I believe that by praying for those in charge, it allows those to set us up, and gives God place for that protection. The Church needs to stay in faith, and be positive. We have a part, and God will do his part as you stated. God will take care of us, but being spiritually slothful, may not turn out so well for many Christians.

God will Protect you and your family from the Wrath to come!!! You can count on that.

I know in the end that all things will work for good for them that love God. Of course for them that love God. I also know that this is a time of great temptation and persecution. And that's obvious to even the most casual observer, provided they've been given the eyes to see with.

Praise the Lord because I am weak, and He is strong. Praise the Lord because I don't sin without regret and sorrow, not anymore. Praise the Lord because I don't walk in sin in the sight of God, because of the propitiation made by the Son Jesus Christ that penalty has been paid. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for becoming our high priest and conquering death so that by His blood our sins should be forgiven. Praise The Lord Jesus Christ that by the Holy Ghost we should walk in newness of mind. Hallelujah! Ain't it great?
