What is your opinion of Reinhard Bonnke, an evangelist who has brought 77 million to the Lord in Africa ( confirmed), where crowds of over 1 million at a time attended his crusades and with numerous miracles witnessed as well? Do you think the Apostle Paul, during his life, brought that many to the Lord? I'm sure he must have frequently visited South Africa.
Don't you think the Holy Spirit empowered
him with spiritual gifts?
Tell me--what are you REALLY hungering and thirsting for?

Who Can Study the Bible?
Not everyone can be a Bible student. Check yourself on these necessary
qualifications for studying the word with blessing:
Are you saved by faith in Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 2:14–16)?
Are you hungering for God’s word (1 Pet. 2:2)?
Are you searching God’s word with diligence (Acts 17:11)?
Are you seeking holiness (1 Pet. 1:14–16)?
Are you Spirit-filled (Eph. 5:18)?

It's not about me. It is about the power of the Holy Spirit, miraculous things that took place then and now. To say that He doesn't empower people today with spiritual gifts would imply He doesn't need to - as if the world was not falling apart. We need His power more today than ever. So please, what about Reinhard Bonnke?

It is kind of like saying Michael is on vacation too - since the 1st Century ... no need for him ... no spiritual battles going on. The Holy Spirit equips us, everyone throughout our lives in many ways we are unaware of to battle dark forces.

I get it--you are seeking for "power, signs, wonders and miracles"--while I am hungering and thirsting after righteousness and holiness.

I receive from the Holy Spirit what He thinks I need. Reinhard gave me nothing. I sought nothing from him. God gave 77 million in Africa enlightenment through him. ANSWER MY 1ST QUESTIONS.

When I'm good and ready.
Oh, I get it, Rambo doesn't like to be put up against the wall.
It was a reasonable question given Your Thread Topic. 1 person, 1 example, in your continent. Or is it just that Reinhard Bonnke is an enigma to you, an anomaly that overshadows the doctrine of cessation?

Who Can Study the Bible?
Not everyone can be a Bible student. Check yourself on these necessary
qualifications for studying the word with blessing:
Are you saved by faith in Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 2:14–16)?
Are you hungering for God’s word (1 Pet. 2:2)?
Are you searching God’s word with diligence (Acts 17:11)?
Are you seeking holiness (1 Pet. 1:14–16)?
Are you Spirit-filled (Eph. 5:18)?
Answering a question with a question is sometimes effective and pertinent; but not in this case. Your thread was about YOU, WHY YOU ARE A CESSASSIONIST! You presented your case. So I asked you about one person who I believe was empowered and spiritually gifted by God and you avoided the questions and turned it around on me.
I am not a Cessasiionist and again am not interested in a long drawn out argument addressing all your reasons and scriptures why I should come over to your side of thinking - I don't have to, because the topic was about you, why you think that way.
So your first response was with your first sentence above. Then you felt cornered, uncomfortable with discussing Reinhard, so you thought you would go back and edit this post with questions for me - a typical diversion tactic:

Those are all good questions for anyone and any Christian would answer yes to them. But I have discernment, can see through your diversion tactic, your obvious avoidance of my questions.
Either be willing to answer my questions about your thoughts and opinions about Reinhard Bonnke, and lump all your theological reasons for the Cessation of Spiritual gifts and apply them to Reinhard and test them.
Well, I'll be waiting ... likely you won't, because you will not have the Holy Spirit inspiring you to cast doubts on His work, you'll be alone on this one.

You sit with a problem and you do know he was friends with Benny Hinn?

You sit with a problem and you do know he was friends with Benny Hinn?
You believe these slanderous articles ( Canada Bible studies by what scholar?, HBO media ...) about him, implying that he was a fraud, that people did not receive miracle healings from God through his ministry, nor did he bring 77 million to the Lord? Okay, that's all I asked.
These writers (whoever they are, don't identify themselves) are damning critics of Christians who have done great things - likely because they do not understand, have not witnessed miracles or personally have done little themselves to draw people to God.
I have not seen anyone raised from the dead or the blind being healed; but I have faith and believe things I have not seen and that with God, anything is possible. "Blessed are those who have not seen Me and believe".
These critics are claiming that Reinhard Bonnke is "of the Devil? Wow, a Pastor called by God to travel to Africa, out of his comfort zone, preaches, evangelizes, uses the Word, prayd in the name of Jesus, spreads the gospel and draws such massive crowds to Christ is doing it by the power of Satan?
That is what the Pharisees accused Jesus of doing, healing, preaching and teaching by the power of Satan.

Frankly, I believe there are some pastors that go off on a tangent and lead some people astray: Jim Jones, David Koresh ... the list is numerous ... but millions?
I personally don't think that 77 million, through his ministry, claiming to believe in Christ, are deceived; nor do I believe in many critics who, like the fake media today, report slanderous lies about people.
That said, John MacArthur and RC Sproul are my go to teachers often, but I am not a Calvinist, nor do I believe everything they say and both of them believe that spiritual gifts have ceased in the 1st Century. I was grown on a different branch - from the same Vine though. John is also Pre-Trib, I am not. If you haven't noticed, he is very serious, cold and does not smile much - where is the joy of the Lord? Conversely, my Pastor, brilliant and loving, was joyful in his approach. He had spiritual gifts - tongues included ( a heavenly tongue of angels)- but did not pray in tongues, and used it only for personal edification.

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Cor. 12:4-11

>>You can't identify with any of these gifts in your life?

To say that the Spirit no longer works and assists in the ministries of His servants _ supernaturally _ and naturally _ in many diverse ways _ is absurd. God equips us differently, for a purpose, some to do great things, drawing multitudes to Himself and the rest us contribute in minor ways - like you and I. I guess He may equip critics to warn people about false profits.
Frankly, I think Satan tries to keep people away from Christ. You can only say Jesus is Lord by the Holy Spirit. If someone says Jesus is not the only way or is not Lord or Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, L. RON Hubbard is the way to God, then a red flag should go up and I'll be the first to criticize them.
We have Catholics who say Protestants are of Satan and Protestants who say Catholics and the Pope are of Satan and I rebuke them as well. Some critics of true Christians should just shut up and do something good and loving for others rather than get on this accusatory bashing wagon. Judge not ... What will you say when you see Reinhard in heaven? "Sorry I doubted and bashed you man ... I was wrong". Heaven will be a humbling experience for many.
