Quite some time ago the Lord told me, "Karl, I want you to preach the Word, but not as it is so often preached today. I want you to preach I AM the Word of God."
And He has told me many other things concerning preaching Him as the Word of God. Him being the Word of God means that we need to listen to Him, personally, and He wants to talk to us personally. So preaching Him as the Word of God is preaching Him and that He wants to talk to us personally! Where as the Bible is written to all people in all nations. The reason behind the Bible being written, is to preach Him as the Word of God - and again, that to mean the He wants us to listen to Him, personally.
Now just the other day He had me go back to something He had told me a number of years ago, which I had forgotten. At that time He basically told me that the reason we don't preach the Bible as the Word of God is because a book cannot love you!! There was a bit more to it than that, but that was the main reason that we don't want to call the Bible 'The Word of God'!
The problem, and it is a great problem, is that when we make the Bible (those writings from some thousands of years ago) the Word of God we fail to being the love of God to them personally!!! And that actually goes against what the writers of the Bible were trying to do!
Is 1:2 Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth;
For the LORD speaks,
By Isaiah starting off with the above, he was trying to get people to hear the Lord speak to them personally!!
And Isaiah also explains what he heard from the Lord in the first chapter, in order to encourage them to discuss things with the Lord personally!
Is 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD,
“Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.
So Isaiah was not preaching the writings, nor traditions of the time, but he was preaching the Lord as the Word of God - meaning we need to hear from Him personally!
And Moses was not doing it differently!! Moses wrote:
Deut 6:4,5“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Moses was not telling us to read what he personally wrote, but rather to hear personally what the Lord had to say to them personally! If that is in doubt note what Moses wrote:
Deut 30:14 “But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.
So Moses was not telling them to read what he wrote that they may observe the word of God, but rather Moses was preaching that the word of God is near us, and found in our mouth and heart - so that was where to go to find out what the Lord wants us to know!
I was once told by Him:
THE SCRIPTURES ARE RIGHT, BUT THEY ARE NOT RIGHTEOUS. THEY HAVE NO ABILITY TO ACT. THEY ARE NOT ALIVE, BUT THE WORD OF GOD IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE.
When I combine that with the other teaching "don't preach the Bible as the Word of God is because a book cannot love you!" it all makes sense. Yet He also once told me:
WE DON’T HAVE UNDERSTANDING BECAUSE WE DON’T READ THE BIBLE WITH UNDERSTANDING, BUT OUR UNDERSTANDING…. UNDERSTAND???
Now 'Understanding' is one of His names:
Prov 7:4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
And call understanding your intimate friend;
If we hear from Jesus Christ and open up to Him, so that He comes in and talks with us, then He will become a friend of ours, right?
Rev 3:20 ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
That what we do with a good friend, right? We go get something to eat with them and talk back and forth with them; even reasoning back and forth with them, right?
I do that. Him and I, we talk! I often go get some food, often at the local hamburger or taco stand, and just take some time to reason with the Lord. I get a lot of those little saying from Him doing that, or going on walks with Him (which I also do a lot) He once told me at a taco/burger fast food place:
UNDERSTANDING IS UNDERSTANDING I AM UNDERSTANDING! UNDERSTAND?
Prov 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction,
To discern the sayings of understanding,
You see - those little saying the Lord gave me are His saying - or put another way. they are "sayings of understanding".
That does not mean that I am writing another Bible! King Solomon wrote down enough of them to convince you to listen to Him if that is what you want to do. And the Father backed it up by saying listen to Him!" didn't He?
Luke 9:35 Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”
So the Father did not say, read about Him, but rather "listen to Him!"
That does not mean we should read and study the Scriptures. Indeed the first words I heard from Him were, 'Read You Bible'! And so I did, but He also told me."
WHAT TEACHER DOESN’T PUT A BOOK IN FRONT OF HIS STUDENTS TODAY; YET NOT JUST A BOOK BUT OVERHEAD TRANSPARENCIES, VISUALS, AND OTHER MATERIAL? FOR I TELL YOU TRULY, IF THEY ARE NOT LISTENING TO ME THEY ARE NOT MY PUPIL, THEY ARE NOT MY STUDENT; I TELL YOU TRULY, THEY ARE NOT MY DISCIPLE UNLESS THEY ARE HEARING FROM ME. SO DON’T TELL THEM TO READ THE BOOK, THEM TO TAKE THE CLASS!”
And the Spirit once told me: WE DON’T USE THE LORD TO PREACH THE SCRIPTURES; WE USE THE SCRIPTURES TO PREACH THE LORD!!
So we are to talk the Scriptures, that we read and study, and use them to tell people to preach Jesus Christ, and Him as the Word of God, meaning that He wants His people to listen to Him!! Of course we read that when we studied the Bible, right?
Ps 81:13 “Oh that My people would listen to Me,
That Israel would walk in My ways!
Sadly again on this Sunday, a pastor at the church I went to, lift up the Bible as The Word of God. I mean he literally lifted the Bible us high and say someone like "This is the Word of God we go by!"
I wonder what he thought of:
Jn 10:2 - 3 “But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out."
I don't know about him, but I go by what my Lord tells me! My Lord has not told me to part the Red Sea, or throw a snake down while talking to Pharoh. He did have me open a Christian bookstore for Him for a couple of years, He had me work in a Chrisitan healing ministry for 5 years, and He has asked me - like I explained, to preach the Word, but not as it is so often preach today! He wants me to preach Him as the Word of God! So I have done that again, as asked my Him! And I did it today, because yesterday He pointed out what He had told me before - ' that we don't preach the Bible as the Word of God because the Book can not love you, but He does!
