Will we still huddle with our family and closest friends as we do now? Or will we love everybody the same? I think the latter. How about you?

I agree with the latter. But then, will we recognize those we loved on earth?

Thank you for your intriguing post.

“What can we expect?” is a question many Christians continue to ask.

Will it be similar to or better than the best parts of our lives now, or will it be completely new? Can we look forward to being with departed loved ones again? If we are no longer married (per Jesus), can we still have close relationships with our dear departed spouses?

Another thought: if my life here and now has meaning through service to others, and brings me the most joy, how can that continue in the spiritual life with God? Speculation: Perhaps the angels and messengers that have appeared before are those willing to continue God’s work on our planet. (?)

Many blessings.

The born again Christian is "pre-destined to be conformed....into the Image of Christ".

What is that?

That is this..."Let US.... make humans, in OUR Image"..

So, that is the "image of Christ"

What is that? Its "likeness"............"to be LIKE".... or "the same as"..

So, this means that the love we will feel in Heaven, is Just LIKE God's.

That is how you will "love".

I believe we should already know the answers to these questions in our lives today. Do you feel you love everyone today, as we also have to at times reserve and protect ourselves in heart and spirit from some people's 'bad' habits and sinful lifestyles?

I think ... since Mary, the disciples, Cleopas, et. al. eventually recognized the risen Christ (who I assume would be the model for what we will become in the Resurrection), I think we will recognize those we loved in this life.

Though that does bring up the question of why they had trouble recognizing the risen Jesus, but He had no problem recognizing them.

Will we love some people more than others? I don't know. I suppose, the more we get to know others, the more we will grow to love them. "To know them is to love them." And we'll have plenty of time to get to know them.

Oops, sry for the double! I wonder if it is that the Holy Spirit had not opened their eyes spiritually yet to be able to see Him...that always made me wonder...why was He not immediately recognized.

Your view is one a carnal/unregenerated -centric view with the 'old' human nature still possessing some control in our lives. This will all disappear once the genuine believer, and his/her body is transformed into 'light'. Into a new immortal nature as Christ. There will be no 'we'll have plenty of time etc....in this form and new life. We will have no sense of consciousness of self as we know it today.

We should be experiencing some glimpses of this perfect love and Spirit of God for others, regardless of our earthy close ones or not, today, as genuine believers destined for true perfection.

Just saying..

I think it would be hard to get close to a billion people - I suspect the next life will just be a continuation of our present life, with some improvements.
