Colossians 2:8
[8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Will worship: is 'will worship' prosperous for the Kingdom of God, or not? In Colossians 2 there is a clear warning of men that feed off religious deeds of a showing of flesh. A warning to not let men bring you back under bondage. The bondage of performing that which is 'glorying in the flesh'.
Colossians 2:19-23
[19] And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. [20] Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, [21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not; [22] Which all are to perish with the using after the commandments and doctrines of men? [23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Colossians 2:18
[18] Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
"Signs of the flesh" in Colossians the continuation to the next chapter continues in that: Colossians 3:1-3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
We are told to 'seek those things which are above' and to 'set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth', with this mind, a mind set on things above...fasting becomes not a show of man's will to 'will worship' his own deeds but the fast spoken of by the LORD in Isaiah 58:1 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?
Notice; will you call this a 'acceptable day to the Lord'? A fast; 'A DAY' for 'A MAN' to afflict his soul? God gave man what man asked for 'A day' for 'a Man' to afflict his soul. And that man was the Son.
Now compare: Isaiah 61 to Isaiah 58. "Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?"
Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
'thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.' ...He is.
John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour; but for this cause came I unto this hour.
John 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
Luke 4:18-21 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
I didn't plan to go there but it seems relevant to 'will worship':

After the commandments and doctrines of men:Matthew 15:9 "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
It seems humility is what we want but then a little earlier in Colossians: 2:18 'voluntary humility' is spoken out against.

Matthew12:18-20
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. 19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
Trees of righteousness planted of the LORD: (Isaiah 58:12) 'they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places'. Trees of righteousness: consider Mark 8:24 when the blind man "And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking." ...it tells us something. I have heard so many times that 'even the Lord had to touch a mans eyes twice for him to see' in relation to our attempt and first failure. This was not a failure. It was intentional.

[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Acts 17:24-25
[24] God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; [25] Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
