I'm curious to know what you all think about Christian musicians that sell tickets to see them perform/ minister. Back in the late 70's and early 80's, Keith Green (who I would say is one of my favorites as far as respecting someone as a writer/musician) tried to make Contemporary Christian artists see that it was wrong to have to charge to go to any place to minister because the gospel is free. When I read the whole book about his life, written by his wife, Melody Green, I was so moved by his passion for sharing the Lord and how we seem to see so much entertainment today instead of ministry. I don't wish to judge, but there's a certain atmosphere that the Holy Spirit just shows up in and you know it! Anyway, Keith Green was killed in 1982 in a plane crash that was so devestating, but the short life he lived was a great testimony. The book is called No Compromise. Keith believed that the Lord would provide all of the needs of the believer and he not only had enough for his family, but took in others because he himself came to Christ after being on drugs, etc. So, what do you think? Should the gospel be free? The group I sing in has decided that we will sell our cd's to cover the cost of making them to those who can afford to pay for them, but we will never turn down anyone who can't afford one. We do not sing at places that charge for singing as a rule.
